Thanks for the love! We appreciate all that Historic Lapeer - Main Street DDA does to highlight and grow our downtown district!

you’ve lived and grew up, the people and places you love. You think about home. I thought about Lapeer. I thought about the farmhouse we loved on Clark Road. I thought about concerts at
Trinity United Methodist. I thought about Lapeer and how much I love this small town. Just walk around anywhere and you’ll run into a dozen people you know—not through social media, and
it’s not through the internet—it’s in real life and face to face.
I’d be in Afghanistan, just dreaming about Blindfish and Mancino’s. I took leave once or twice a year for six days at a time, once in
the summer and once in the winter, and I would come straight back to Lapeer because I love being here.

And now that I’m back and living in it, I love it more. I walk through the town enjoying where I am, and thinking how great it is to be in a small, beautiful community like this. I’ve been to many big cities all over the world, and I would never want to live in those places—they’re too busy and you don’t know anybody. I’ve been to really remote places that I’ve loved, but I wouldn’t want to live there either, because it could get lonely and there would be nothing to do.

We’ve been pretty ambitious here at Axecadia, and that’s because the people in the community are worth it. We want to provide experiences that people will remember for the rest of their lives,
memories that will make this place feel like home.

I think the people that are here investing in and working on behalf of the community have been doing a great job revitalizing it, and if you think about what downtown was like in the early 2000s, you see the evidence of that. Over time, Lapeer will continue to build and grow in something even better. Time marches on, and so do we.”
