Hero

Well to all students, parents, ladies, and gentlemen, we have a true hero in our midst. Last week after coaching his sons basketball team, Mr. Jeff Gulla noticed a man struggling and was having an apparent heart attack. Mr. Gulla jumped into action and started CPR on a man that was gasping for air. When he told me the story of how he was shocked twice and had numerous people, (once the ambulance got there) working on him I didn’t think this gentleman had much of a chance. Turns out this gentleman did survive and while Mr. Gulla probably does not consider himself a hero, he definitely is, and especially to this man. Sometimes it’s not what you set out to do. It’s what you do when you’re called upon to do it. I’m happy to say his children demonstrate the same mentality in Karate.
I hope this gentleman reaches out to Mr. Gulla but if not, I want to tell him that I am very proud of him, and I know the school feels the same way, thank you again, sir.

The Sweep!

What starts as a routine moment quickly becomes a confrontation. After a police vehicle signals for space, the situation appears to escalate when the man reacts instead of simply moving aside. It's a reminder that small decisions can have bigger consequences than expected. Accountability isn't just about what happens afterward—it's about the choices that lead up to it. Staying calm and thinking before acting can prevent a minor situation from becoming a much larger one.

Coming July 1st our July Contest series will begin! We will post a situation which everybody can guess the outcome and win prizes.
We are self-defense art, specializing in self-defense and child development. If you’re the type that wants to roll around on the ground, have some guys crotch in your face or their armpit, all to be attacked by second person jumping in this isn’t the spot for you! We emphasize self-defense, not strength, not rolling around in a sport where people immediately jump on the ground and call it self-defense. The last place you want to be in a self-defense situation is on the ground.
