A dreary day is a perfect day to make bookmarks. Thanks, Gail Shapiro Yike for the idea! (eventually 🙂)
"Amy's Expressions" was created in October of 2009. It is a dream come true for me. Thanks for vis Things just took off from there. I am forever in your debt!
Back in 2009, I was chomping at the bit to do something creative with my time and energy. My husband, Eric, suggested getting back into pencil sketching, but I was at a loss for a subject to start with. He suggested drawing our beautiful boys so he could hang them in his office. I did, and showed them to friends who worked in my son's school. They loved them, and wanted to know how much I charged for my work.. So- Without you, Sharon, Nikki, and Eric, I wouldn't be here.

This latest graphite drawing is based on Michael Oeser's photograph that I found on Upsplash. I enjoy using this site as I am able to credit the incredible photographers who allow artists to use their work as reference material. I find I love creating projects involving water (and I'm really a Fire sign- go figure), and found this subject challenging, yet rewarding in the end. Prints of this drawing, along with other projects I've posted, are for sale: $40 matted and $20 unmatted. Please message me, if you're interested. Thanks!

Since Eric is away exploring the wilds of Australia with his brother Ralf, I felt it fitting to create a graphite portrait of a koala. I used a free photo by Arnold Zhou from the site Upsplash as my source. P.S. Apparently koalas aren't bears, so I've been told by Ralf.

This is Pippin, our silver tabby, begging for a belly rub. In addition to paint, I used watercolor pencils, white gouache and micron pens for touch-ups. Cold press Fabriano Artistico 100& cotton paper.

Using "Upsplash" I was able to download for free this photograph by James Wainscoat to use for my hummingbird painting.
