I'm so excited to be joining Recovery Day Lancaster Saturday, Aug. 29. It's our local observation of the annual National Recovery Month, which takes place in September and celebrates that people absolutely recover from addiction.
I'll be there representing She Recovers and sharing our mission to to redefine recovery, inspire hope, reduce stigma and empower women in or seeking recovery. And offering some ways to honor how grief is part of the recovery journey. You'll also find lots of other activities, food, music, and resources about treatment and recovery.
The event is free to attend; if you'd like lunch, tickets are available for $5 per person for a barbecue buffet. purchase tickets at https://lnkd.in/g8Kbu7pW or at the registration table during the event.

Last month Karen Carnabucci and I had lunch at Amanita. I had been a little down, and by the end of the lunch I felt energized and engaged.
We both shared how getting together IRL to connect mattered.
So we decided to do it again, and invite you!
Join Karen and me Tuesday September 15 at Amanita Cafe in Lancaster, PA for Dark Roast and Deep Conversations.
We'll be there from 10 AM-1:30 PM. Drop in. Or come and stay. , amaninta, coffee, connection

You know I love dark roast and deep conversations. I got to savor both today with Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP at realtruekaren.com. From laughter to dreaming about what embodied and practical training for therapists could be to imagining ways to disrupt the system, our conversation was rich and deep.
It was so delightful that we're planning on doing it in the future...and inviting you to join us. Stay tuned for more information.

"I went into a workshop thinking I knew how grief would show up.
I was wrong."
She expected to grieve her mom.
What surfaced was nostalgia.
Christmas.
The one time in her life she felt safe.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Grief doesn’t come when we expect.
It shows up for the traditions we’ve lost. The people who made them sacred.
It shows up in your body first.
Most people want to hurry through it.
What I practice is different.
Making grief accessible. Doable.
Not by rushing by listening.
To where it actually lives.
In the eyes. The nervous system. The breath.
"It felt spiritual, scientific — the combination of brain function with knowledge for soul and human function.”
That’s what Brainspotting is.
Your body knows.
I just listen.
Curious?
Here's a Self-Brainspotting Guide to begin exploring

Engage in Brainspotting with Self-Spotting is a step-by-step guide to finding your resource spot — the calm, grounded place in your body — and staying with it long enough for something to shift.

📢 NEW EPISODE OUT - When we think about grief, we often think about losing someone. But it can also show up in other ways—through change, through the body, through things that don’t always have a clear name.
In this episode, Megan Malick shares experiences from different stages of her life that reflect the wider spectrum of grief, including:
• early disruption and change
• coping mechanisms developed in childhood
• uncovering trauma later in life
• infertility and hysterectomy
• losing both parents within months
Alongside this, her relationship with faith also changes—moving from something structured to something more personal and expanded over time.
It’s a conversation that brings these two threads together in a very real way.

There are two ways to be lost in the woods.
One: you took a wrong turn, and you just want out.
The other: something changed. A role ended. Someone left. A version of you stopped fitting.
There’s no trail back —
because back isn’t where you’re going.
Most people apologize for being in the second kind.
You don’t have to.
Change equals loss.
Loss equals grief.
Grief, faced, felt, and metabolized leads to
growth.
Which forest are you in right now?

Grief isn't just about loss. It's about becoming.
I joined Dr. Cherie Lindberg on Elevated Life Academy to talk about losing both parents in the same winter — and how sitting in the sacred unknown led me to the work I was always meant to do.
If you're in the messy middle of a transition, this one's for you.
