This is one way I practice what I have taught and shared in my Therapeutic Movement classes. I’m not teaching adult classes very often lately , but I still like to share my little wins—especially when PLAY or enjoyable moments can be in the mix. Adding a bit of play can take the sting out when I find a tender spot. Sometimes I am reminded to check back in on those areas that may need more attention or care.

This is me integrating movement - play - self myofascial release in a mini session before I even roll out of my driveway. It allows me to check in and follow my impulse to do what I need to help me stay well and move well—- well, fairly well on most days. But this does not happen if I don’t practice.

The practice allows me to get on ground to crawl, kneel, lift, push, and play with young children on the floor.

This is a short clip of a Therapeutic Movement class. This is near the end of our class on our last class together as the school year is about to begin.

Key takeaways for me:
✔️ This group enjoyed the class, especially when they could move the way they needed.
✔️ Sometimes too much movement for some made it difficult to return to a time of focus.
✔️ They seemed to really enjoy the balance exercises and even requested that theme for our last class together.
✔️ They are curious.. one student offered that he is nervous for the new school year and wanted to know how to ‘manage’ the nervousness.
✔️ They crave connection. When offer a touch point at the end of each class (hand to back or a gentle leg pull) and they ALL say ‘yes please’. Infact, if I skip this part, someone will ask me if I can hold their feet.
✔️ I truly enjoy working with children!
✔️ There’s so much more….

I offer workshops and classes to schools for wellness events and even fine arts day for the ‘art’ of movement. Local to and got kids or work with kids? Follow along because more fun is coming.

This is a clip of my movement practice using a playground as my laboratory. I tested some stretches & moves, noticed, shifted, moved again, and asked myself about what was needed? During these ‘experiments’, I’m intentionally moving and listening, but there’s no choreography or exact plan except to follow my internal cues. This exploration, when done in a playful environment, allows the ‘work’ or learning to stick. This particular experience seemed to lite my fire and get me moving. I needed that since I am coming out of a funky phase of feeling less vitality. I welcome back this life force 🔥!

Local to ? If you’re looking for more opportunities to — I am looking to guide small groups in utilizing a playground to move, notice, and play. I believe it’ll be especially engaging with a group. I’m planning to guide a group on Tuesday June 16th. Exact time and location TBD. I’m planting seeds of curiosity and interest.

I am encouraged to play not only because it’s fun, but there are so many benefits. It certainly does not need to be on a playground. All types of play lead to improvements in health. Look at the work of Dr. Staurt Brown of . Learn more about your play nature.

AND with practice and repetition you can make the goodness stick because of neuroplasticity. Want to learn more about this phenomena? — check out the work of Dr. Norman Doidge. Books of interest: ‘The Brain That Changes Itself’… incredible stories of how changes are possible.

Reach out with questions or inquiries to set up a Therapeutic Movement or Yoga class for any age group. This example was for the 3 and 4 year old classes. I offer a variety of themed exercises, activities, and ‘play’ that’s developmentally appropriate for each group.

Blends physical therapy knowledge, yoga, self massage and exercises to support nervous system care. Each class presents as an invitation to move or try something new without forcing.

In this clip, I’m sharing an analogy that has helped my clients better understand what’s often called a “healing crisis”. I tend to think of it a bit differently —> such as new information is coming to the surface.

As you begin doing deeper internal work, whether it is talk therapy, body-based work, or nervous system support, you may notice shifts. In the work I am describing here, (myofascial release therapy). the body is moved using a modality that may physically agitate, or stir up, or bring ’stuff’ to the surface. Sometimes that looks like a temporary increase in symptoms. Other times, it’s new information, sensations, or patterns coming into awareness.

This isn’t something going wrong. It could be a message that your system has enough capacity for something previously held beneath the surface to begin to emerge.

On Instagram, I’m not going into how to respond or manage a ‘healing crisis’, because that is very individual. My intention is simply to build awareness. As your system changes, your experience may change too.

If something feels more noticeable or even more intense at times, it doesn’t necessarily mean things are getting worse, it may mean something is becoming visible or there is a new information to work with.

One recommendation I will share…. Go slowly when work with somatics (working with the body) and honestly, any deeper work. We call it titration in my world. One step, one drop, one practice at a time and allow it to sink in for integration.

This an honest ramble about my health journey and how I still notice shifts and improvements. I first made some bigger shifts in my mental health, physical health, and relational health when I became aware of my patterns, my nervous system’s responses, and how so many systems are connected..

I set myself on to a worthwhile journey when I started the 21 day Nervous System Tune Up course by Irene Lyon. It is invaluable and TODAY April 30th it is 50 percent discounted. Look at the wesbite for the full conent of the program. I will try to link on video and look at instagram profile if its not there.

Bonus: if you live near Lancaster, PA and will have access to this content, I offer classes and workshops that help to integrate this learning. I am soon ready to launch a 10 week course to teach this in a commited local group. Working on the location before I can advertise. The wait and the work may be slow, but it is worth it!!!!!

Slow is the new fast.

Build it (your nervous system capacity) and it will serve you

This is part of a layered, personal Therapeutic Movement experience. Therapeutic Movement is a blend of physical therapy, self myofascial release, nervous system care, and gentle yoga.

I do teach classes, but this clip is not instructional, it’s to encourage myself and others to BE (present) in and MOVE in the space you’re in. Let your home or patio be a movement lab.

We are undergoing a major renovation project to rebuild a retaining wall. The chaos and disruption has been a lot. I’m practicing noticing the impact things have on me.

I was feeling sluggish and very withdrewn and unmotivated for a week. Today — it switched when the work area was empty of the crew and I could go out and be in my yard space comfortably.

This clip is a part of tjhat exploration and learning. For me to move where I am, I need to first notice where I am.

I noticed.
I followed my impulse.
I looked around.
I used my space in a therapeutic and supportive way.
My back moved & felt better.
I felt a burst of energy.
I moved more, felt more, and enjoyed the moment.

A seed doesn’t need to be forced to grow. It needs the right conditions.

Your nervous system is no different.
Regulation, connection, and resilience don’t come from pushing harder ,
they come from consistent, supportive inputs over time that signal safety to the system.

Of course, effort matters. We wouldn’t build strength without hard work like our gym.worouts.

But a healthy nervous system isn’t built through force. It’s cultivated.

Yes, a healthy nervous system requires cultivation with the right conditions. I learned about nervous system health through impactful education with . She offers many free resources to get you started and online self paced curriculums to keep you going, growing, and glowing!

I’ve integrated this education into my work as a somatic practitioner and physical therapist. I call my work Therapeutic Movement— my current focus is with children and early development, but I know I will return to working with adults too!

A summary of my personal Therapeutic Movement practice. Always includes —>>> following my impulse and a differing mix of elements from the disciplines of physical therapy, gentle yoga, self myofascial release, and nervous system care. Today’s seemed to have a focus on my lymphatic and cardiovascular systems, however when you touch one system, you tap into others. EVERYthing is connected.

Check out to learn more about the BIG 6 since I was not teaching it, only sharing a snippet of my practice. This is a daily non negotiable for me and has been VERY beneficial!

I’m taking a pause from teaching adults & have moved to more playing with little people these days, but I will be back and ready to share all things .

This is an example of part of a Therapeutic Movement for 5-6 year olds. They requested a chill class~~ their words ;). I kept the theme ‘Head to Toe’ and modified it for their needs. Whereas the 3 & 4 year old class needed bigger movements for most of the 30 minutes, this group wanted to settle into their afternoon quiet time..

Is your group looking to add trauma informed age appropriate movement that blends physical therapy, gentle yoga, self care fitness, and nervous system care? I can offer classes for children and/or staff. All ages in or near
