When I first started, I used nail clippers, then the cheap $5 nippers you find in the bins at fly shops. Now I own Hatch and Abel nippers. The functionality remains the same, but there’s something to be said for using quality, American-made tools that you enjoy every time you reach for them. It’s also how I justify the cost. 😂

I love these old Simms Flyweights. I treated them as disposable because they’d last one season 😂

The Patriot Fly. Meant to post this on the 4th of July but we didn't have power for several days. Central Pennsylvania got wacked by some crazy thunderstorms.

Less than 3 weeks til Alaska!
First cast into the soft pocket behind a fallen tree, a nice cutthroat came up and rejected my fly.
Eight fly changes later, he finally took to a dark Walt’s Worm dropper.
Sometimes fly fishing isn’t about making the perfect cast. It’s about persistence and finding that right combo.
During high water, look for soft pockets. Fish often avoid expending unnecessary energy. Instead of holding in the strongest flow, they move into soft pockets, areas where the current slows down but food is still carried past them.
