Land navigation isn't just about following a compass.
A compass is a tool. The real skill is knowing when to use it, when the terrain can do the work for you, when precision matters, and when something isn't going according to plan.
That's a big part of how I approach land-navigation instruction at Fire Wolf Self Reliance.
My goal isn't simply to teach students a collection of techniques. It's to help develop navigators who can make good decisions when they're eventually on their own.
