Lake Bluff Nordic Ski Club

A fitting day to post what will probably be the last of the season. I hope you all had a great xc ski season and enjoyed every moment you got out on the snow. The early season snow back in December was awesome! Lasted almost 2 weeks then it was hit or miss from then on. I’ve said it before, Illinois skiers are some of the most hardy skiers out there. Whether you ski on 1” of snow or hit the groomed trails, IL skiers don’t take any days for granted. Enjoy your summer activities, be safe and we will see you next ski season!

Sunday Funday! Blue skies and light powder. The inch or two we got overnight freshened things up. Get out and ski while it is still here.

Update for 1/27- got out for a ski this morning. The wind really blew a lot of snow off exposed areas. Best bet is to head to the west side of the golf course and ski along the Skokie River. The man made trail is holding up nicely over there.

Cold morning to start the day. Skied one lap to assess the conditions. Good news is that we have decent snow to ski on. Bad news is that there is not enough to groom. Snow is just too light and dry to compact into a groomed trail. But get out and ski and enjoy it while it is here.

Nice little snow overnight but it doesn’t look like enough to groom safely without damaging the turf. This snow if very dry and fluffy. Not good for grooming a trail. I’ll go skiing on Monday morning and post a report of th conditions.
