Five to ten minutes a day. A fun routine like this.
Not another thing you have to be perfect at. Just a few minutes of the right movement, done consistently, and most parents start noticing their kid is different in ways they can't quite explain at first.
Here's what those daily brain challenges are actually building:
Focus that lasts 🎯
They stop drifting five minutes into homework.
A calmer baseline 😌
Still human, still has hard moments, but they come back faster.
Coordination that finally clicks 🤸♂️
Less tripping, less crashing, more confidence on the playground.
Posture that holds 🪑
No more melting into the table by the second worksheet.
Eyes that track 📚
Fewer skipped lines, less losing their place, reading stops feeling like a fight.
Hands that cooperate ✍️
Looser grip, less pressing down, handwriting that doesn't wipe them out.
Sleep that actually restores 😴
A regulated nervous system winds down instead of getting a second wind.
Confidence from the inside out 💪
Their body starts working with them instead of against them.
A world that feels less loud 🎧
Tags, socks, noise, crowded places. All of it gets more tolerable.
Room to learn 🧠
When the brain isn't stuck in survival mode, it finally has space to grow.
None of this happens in a week. It happens in reps. Small ones, most days, stacked over time. That's the whole secret.

This posture is a 🕵️ … not a bad habit. 😮💨✏️
When a child lays their head down while ✍🏼writing, it’s easy to assume they’re lazy, tired, or unmotivated.
But the truth is — this isn’t about effort.
It’s about how their brain 🧠 is wired right now.
A retained Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) keeps the nervous system stuck in a primitive pattern — one that was meant for babies, not big kids learning and growing.
When TLR isn’t integrated:
• The brain is operating from its lower, survival-driven centers
• Core control and posture become draining
• Focus, regulation, and fine motor skills suffer
• Everyday tasks like sitting upright, writing, or reading feel overwhelming
🧠 The brain is too busy handling the basics to access higher functions like reasoning, memory, or executive function.
When we integrate TLR, we free up the nervous system to shift from reflex-driven survival mode to conscious, higher-level processing — making it easier for the child to sit tall, stay engaged, and feel in control of their body.
Two simple but powerful movements shown in this video:
1. 🧘♀️ Down Dog to Cobra – teaches the brain to organize postural changes through space
2. 🌀 Pendulum Head Tilts – arms at 90°, head slowly looks up and down to recalibrate visual + vestibular systems
➡️ Have you ever thought this was laziness? Comment below — you’re not alone.

😳 “Why is my kid always on edge?”
Kids ages 4-12 really benefit from this routine!
If your child melts down over seemingly nothing…
Struggles to calm down after big emotions…
And lives like they’re stuck in fight-or-flight mode…
👉 It may not be behavioral—it might be a retained Moro reflex.
This early startle reflex is meant to protect babies—but if it sticks around, the brain stays on high alert, causing:
🔺 Increased anxiety
💥 Emotional outbursts
🌀 Trouble with self-regulation
👂 Sensory overload
🚫 Difficulty focusing
Here’s what I do when I suspect the Moro reflex hasn’t integrated 👇
⸻
Step 1: Regulate first
🌀 Rhythmic movements – gentle rocking, swaying, or bouncing
➡️ These calm the nervous system through repetition and predictability.
🤲 Deep pressure – squeeze or press the legs, arms, and torso
➡️ This grounds the body and tells the brain “you’re safe now.”
⸻
Step 2: Then integrate
🍿 Popcorn – curl into a ball and then pop out like popcorn
➡️ Helps retrain the startle response through controlled movement.
🧸 Starfish Pillow Grab (aka Python Squeeze in our family) – squeeze a pillow with arms and legs from a spread-out starfish position
➡️ Mimics the Moro reflex and trains the brain to process it properly.
🧲 Gluing to the Floor – press arms and legs firmly into the floor
➡️ Builds body awareness and calms the sensory system.
⸻
📆 Do these 5 movements daily—you’ll start to notice fewer meltdowns and more calm 💛

Focus struggles, meltdowns, emotional ups and downs, difficulty staying on task… there’s rarely one single cause.
At Rewired Kids, we believe in looking at the whole picture.
• Movement
• Sleep
• Nutrition
• Screen habits
• Nervous system regulation
• Brain-supportive tools
One supplement we’ve been loving lately is Happy Chews, a saffron-based chew that’s become a favorite in our home and for many of the families we work with.
If you’ve already been working on the foundations, reducing food dyes, improving sleep, encouraging movement, and supporting nutrition—but still feel like your child could use additional support, Happy Chews is absolutely worth trying.
I’ve seen kids and adults notice positive changes after adding saffron into their routine. Families often share that they’re seeing better focus, smoother school days, fewer emotional ups and downs, and kids who seem calmer and more confident overall.
What I love most is that it’s easy, kid-friendly, and something families can realistically stay consistent with.
No single tool creates lasting change on its own, but the right support can make a meaningful difference. And when you combine strong foundations with targeted brain support, that’s where we often see some really exciting progress.

🧠FAMILY BRAIN GAME: Build Coordination, Connection & Reflex Integration in 5 Minutes!
Want a fun way to build your child’s brain and improve their emotional regulation, balance, and focus?
👉 Try this DIY cardboard step game:
How to play:
🌟Cut 3 cardboard rectangles.
🌟Place all 3 on the ground.
🌟Stand on 2, then move one forward to create a new step.
🌟Continue stepping and repositioning the back piece to the front.
Go slow and think ahead!
This simple game activates the ATNR, TLR, and STNR reflexes:
🌀 ATNR – Coordinates opposite arm/leg movement → helps with clumsiness & poor handwriting
🌊 TLR – Challenges balance & head positioning → improves posture & body awareness
⚡️ STNR – Requires upper/lower body coordination → reduces fidgeting, poor sitting posture, and attention issues
🧠 This builds motor planning, sequencing, and whole-brain engagement — while also protecting against cognitive decline in adults.
💬 Try this as a family — and tag us when you do!

🧠 Can Your Brain Do This? (Most Adults Can’t… at First)
One hand shows a 1️⃣, the other a 2️⃣… then switch — over and over. This is the “1-2 Switcheroo,” and it’s more than just a hand trick.
It strengthens bilateral hemisphere connection — helping the left and right sides of the brain communicate, so the brain can work faster, easier, and with more control.
🔗 This is Part 1 of our brain game series — perfect for kids (ages 4+) and adults alike!
⸻
🎯 For Kids:
When the brain connects better, kids:
• 🧠 Focus more easily
• 😌 Regulate emotions better
• 🏃♀️ Improve body awareness & coordination
⸻
👵 For Adults:
• 🧠 Boost neuroplasticity
• 🧩 Sharpen memory
• 🕰️ Delay cognitive decline
• 🌟 Improve mental clarity
✅ And yes — research shows movements like this literally change the brain by strengthening the communication bridge between both hemispheres.
⸻
✨ Try the 1-2 Switcheroo today — you’ll probably look at your hands at first, but keep going! The goal is smooth, effortless switching without looking.

Remember when rolling down a hill was just part of childhood?
Turns out—it’s one of the most powerful brain-building tools we’ve forgotten. 👶🧠
Rolling taps into everything a developing brain needs:
🌀 Vestibular input for balance, coordination, and focus
🤸♀️ Proprioception to help kids know where their body is in space (essential for confidence + regulation)
🧠 Primitive reflex integration—especially for the TLR and Spinal Galant, which affect posture, attention, and emotional control
🌬️ Deep nervous system regulation—so your child can shift out of fight-or-flight and feel safe in their body
Rolling is rhythmical, full-body, sensory-rich movement. It connects both sides of the brain, helps integrate reflexes, and calms the whole system. And sadly, most kids aren’t getting these kinds of movements anymore.
Instead screen time… kids need to ROLL (and in general any outdoor play!).
And honestly? So do adults. Try it—your nervous system will thank you. 😌

🧠 Struggling to help your child calm down during meltdowns or anxiety spikes? This brain-based reset is a powerful tool—and it works best when practiced before the storm hits.
Here’s the science behind this 3-part calming pattern:
👉🏼 Tapping the fingertips during a slow 5-second inhale activates mechanoreceptors—tiny touch sensors that signal the sensory cortex, grounding your child in their body and telling the brain, “I’m safe.”
👉🏼 Exhaling slowly for 8 seconds while pressing the palms together applies deep pressure, which stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system—your child’s built-in calming switch. This slows heart rate, lowers stress hormones, and helps the body shift out of fight-or-flight.
👉🏼 Crossing the arms and tapping the shoulders rhythmically stimulates the corpus callosum, the bridge between the brain’s hemispheres, improving coordination, focus, and emotional regulation.
💡But here’s the key:
This works best when practiced outside of meltdowns.
When a child learns to use this tool in a calm moment, the brain wires it in as a regulation strategy. Then, when dysregulation hits, their nervous system already recognizes it as a calming pattern—not something new or forced.
