You don't have to play lacrosseโor even have a lacrosse player in your familyโto support giving Nebraska kids another opportunity to find a sport they love. Sometimes adding another opportunity means another kid finds their thing, which is why this effort is so important!
Lacrosse combines speed, endurance, coordination, communication, strategy and teamwork, and it has incredible crossover with sports many Nebraska kids already play. But maybe more importantly, not every kid finds their place in the sports we've traditionally offered.
Sanctioning lacrosse would also mean something bigger than simply calling it an "official" sport. It creates a more established high-school pathway, greater visibility and consistency, and the opportunity for the game to reach students and communities that may not currently have access to it.
Nebraska already has kids who love this game. We have youth programs, high-school players, coaches, families and college programs helping grow it. Now we have an opportunity to help build the next step.
A proposal to sanction lacrosse will be submitted to the NSAA on October 1, with a membership vote expected in mid-November.
The goal is 2,000 signatures showing there is community support behind it.
If you believe Nebraska students deserve more opportunities to compete, grow, lead and discover a sport they love, please take a minute to signโand share.
Let's grow the game.
