Our main agenda tonight will be getting ready for the 2026 Menehune Contest on:

📅 OCTOBER 3, 2026

🤙 There are still OPEN SPOTS for young surfers!

🏄 Competitors must be 16 or younger on Contest Day.

⏰ REGISTRATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 25TH!

Entries are first-come, first-served, so get the word out and get those young surfers registered!

🤙 VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

We need WSC members, parents, friends, and surf community members to help make Contest Day a great experience for the next generation of surfers.

💙 SPONSORS WANTED!

Businesses and individuals are also welcome to support the Menehune Contest and this long-standing La Jolla junior surf tradition. Every bit of support helps!

☢️🌊 SPECIAL UPDATE — SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR WASTE

Oceanographer Kim McCoy will join us tonight from approximately 6:15–6:30 PM to update us on the nuclear waste issue at San Onofre.

We’ll also have videos from our Mavericks event playing in the background throughout the meeting.

Windansea !!! September Meeting next Wednesday at Wheat and Water Restaurant at 6PM on the patio. We will update everyone on the upcoming Menehune Contest (Oct 3rd), share a short update from Kim McCoy on the current situation with the nuclear waste at San Onofre, and play videos from the comp team’s Mavericks event during the meeting. I will send out another reminder as it gets closer.
Windansea, if you signed up to volunteer as safety for this weekend’s rough water swim, the event has been CANCELED due to high tides and erosion. If you need more information, ping Mark Feighan.

🌊 Dear Windansea Surf Club Family, please keep Tim Hodgson in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏❤️ Tim is currently in the hospital after a health issue, and he could really use our love, support, and prayers as he focuses on healing and getting back on his feet.

Tim is our current Windansea Surf Club Man of the Year, and he has always been there for our Club and our community. Now it’s our turn to be there for him!

Let’s send Tim some Windansea love and positive energy for a strong and speedy recovery! 🌊❤️🙏

Windansea Surf Club – August General Meeting Reminder! 🌊
Reminder that today is our August General Meeting! We’ll meet at 6:00 PM at the PB VFW in Pacific Beach. Next month, we’ll try to hold our September meeting at a new venue.

We have a great lineup of updates tonight!

🏃‍♂️ St. Vincent de Paul Kids Day at the Beach
Adam Bloomberg, our St. Vincent de Paul Director, will give us an update on this fabulous event, now in its 40th year at La Jolla Shores! Robb Luscomb and Jon Roseman started this wonderful event for the Windansea Surf Club 40 years ago. Technically, it is the 38th running due to the interruption caused by COVID.

🏄‍♂️ Windansea Competition Team
Andy Prado will give us an update on our competition team, which just took 2nd Place at Oceanside in the event hosted with the Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club and the Coalition of Surfing Clubs. He’ll also recognize the competitors and their families who made this achievement possible.

🎗️ UCSD Cancer Benefit & Pancreatic Cancer Terminators
Andy will also share an update on the 33rd Annual UCSD Cancer Benefit at La Jolla Shores and the Pancreatic Cancer Terminators, who took 1st Place at this historic event.

It’s going to be a great evening with lots to celebrate and plenty of Windansea spirit!
