I (Melissa) feel like today has been a perfect representation of the journey of childhood cancer. John completed 80 miles, but he is unable to go on. To me, this represents those kids who Do Not Make It. Their bodies give out. It is too much weight to carry. Today also represents the support of the childhood cancer community lifting each other up, as Larry and Cruz are completing the run for John on their bikes. Many cancer dads grouped together and walked with him and prayed with him and supported him in his decision. I personally feel that Cancer Dads hold themselves to a higher standard where they think they cannot break and they cannot feel or they will fail their children and their wives. That is far from the truth. They do feel and they do break. I am so proud of all of them and of course so proud of John for not letting himself be injured or collapse. I am thankful for the bond that the dads have given to him and that they all have. Please continue to pray for these families and donate if you are able. They will all still finish together at the Pointe at Lifespring if anyone wants to come. Thank you all!

Loop 7, 70 miles, done! John was met with a huge embrace by his why for doing this run just over halfway through this loop. It doesn’t get better than that! It’s getting warm, the miles are piling up, but he keeps on pushing, one step at a time, doing his best to bring the awareness of childhood cancer, and support for all the families that have been affected by or currently being affected by this awful disease. The question is are you? Donate today and become part of making a difference, making a huge impact in a child and their family’s life!

60 miles logged and that makes loop #6 complete. This loop demonstrated just how far a little support can go, with two new individuals accompanying John and other CancerDads. Showing up and supporting definitely seemed to put a little pep in Johns’s steps! You can do the same thing for families within childhood cancer by going to website and donating today! hope4hattie.com

The fourth loop, 40 miles, is in the books! You know I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this run or bike ride of 100 miles must be. However, I would say one thing that helps is having those beside you, pushing you every step of the way. The journey for the families within childhood cancer is something most can’t even fathom but even so your support is something that can help the organizations listed on the website be that push, or encouragement that these families need to keep going. Be part of the difference, and donate!

3rd loop, 30 miles total, is complete. You’ve seen for awhile now examples of why John runs, and here’s one more, in his own words. You will also see in the pictures that there’s just enough light around them to see where they are going in the darkness. You have that opportunity to be that light for other children and their families by clicking on the link below and donating to the organizations listed on the website. Will you be that light, that so many families need as they travel through the darkest times you can travel through which is the world of childhood cancer??

As the sun starts to set, John has completed his second loop of 10 miles. As you see in some of the photos it’s not a flat loop that he runs. There are some pretty good size hills he and the others take on. Definitely takes a lot to keep pushing through, as it does for so many children and families within the world of childhood cancer. Which is why we encourage those that can to donate to not only support this incredible run but to help the organizations out there be a difference to those families and children, like they have for so many of us and continue to do so!
