Stroud's School of Martial Arts Stroud's School of Martial Arts is a training facility where the Japanese arts of jiu jitsu, judo, and karate are taught. Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The foundation of Stroud's School of Martial Arts was literally lain in the early 1970’s by Hanshi Lemuel “Doc” Stroud and his students. A place built with strength of body and mind was established to provide the essentials of learning the art of self-defense. Unique in its teachings, Stroud’s offers not only one art but four: Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Kobudo. Stroud’s is not only a place where you can find self-discipline and self-defense but it is also a place where you can find friends and family. Adult Classes
Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Children and Adult Classes
Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Saturdays from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. [12 years and older]

Additional hours of instruction are available upon request.

The hardest belt in martial arts is not black.

Everyone thinks black belt is the hardest because it takes years of pain, sweat and sacrifice to earn. But the truth is, the hardest belt is the white belt that keeps coming back.

Getting a new color is exciting, but keeping the white belt mentality is what breaks most people. It's the courage to start when you know nothing, to fail in front of everyone, to feel clumsy and still show up the next day. Many students quit when it gets boring, hard, or when they get their first belt and feel satisfied.

The white belt that keeps coming back means humility, consistency, and love for the art even without rewards. It means you never think you have arrived, you always stay a student. That mindset is what ultimately makes a black belt possible, and it is far harder than any technique.
