The Lethality Assessment Program is about identifying domestic violence survivors at the highest risk and connecting them with help before another tragedy occurs.

We must continue listening, learning, and strengthening our response to domestic violence in Ulster County.

THANK YOU to Legislator Marino for listening to the voices of those who have been impacted by domestic violence. Your inspired action to more forward Resolution 347 LAP Training among law enforcement is a step forward that demonstrates your commitment to survivors, who no longer have to bear this public health crisis in isolation. We stand together to raise the voices of those who have been affected, and to move forward the necessary coordination of these urgent issues swiftly and effectively.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the family and friends of Brianna S. Wittl, who was fatally shot during a domestic dispute on September 1, 2026, at a residence on Route 213 in the Town of Esopus, New York.

Authorities arrested her fiancé, William F. Dearden, 47, and charged him with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Domestic Violence must stop, and a firm dedication to this effort must take place in our homes and communities. Ending domestic violence begins by empowering and validating victims and survivors, and holding abusers accountable.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of Melinda “Mindy” Brugger.

Domestic Violence exists behind closed doors in EVERY community.

The most dangerous time is when a victim decides to leave.

Victims need to be assured they will get the safety and justice they deserve when they make the courageous decision to leave.

We must build a robust advocate network that is beholden ONLY to the victim.

Let's stand together and speak up for Mindy and those who feel the need to suffer in silence. You're not alone.
