Bluebird skies. Salmonflies. Sawtooth spectacle.

The Maxxon crew got together for a few days on Idaho's Upper Salmon River, chasing native trout through one of the most incredible fisheries in the West. Willing cutthroat, a surprise bull trout, and miles of water shared with good friends made this one of those trips that sticks with you long after the gear is unpacked.

We put together a behind-the-scenes look at the adventure, from floating beneath the Sawtooths to the moments between the casts that made the trip unforgettable.

As anglers, one of the greatest privileges we have is the ability to choose whether we keep a fish or let it swim away to fight another day. But catch and release is more than just letting a fish go... it’s about handling them with respect to ensure they actually survive the interaction.

In our newest blog, Steve Densley shares his old-school perspective on the ethics, mindset, and best practices of proper fish conservation.

If you're letting a fish dictate the direction of the fight, you need to start implementing side pressure.

By laying the rod over horizontally, you force the fish to fight against the current and the lateral resistance of your line, wearing them out in a fraction of the time. Stop fighting long, exhausting battles that stress the fish.
