Launch and recovery recap:
-Launched with Salvo 1
-Valkyries apogee recorded at 9,659 feet, after temperature corrections apogee is fairly close to simulations of 10,500 feet
-Internal temperature inside rocket at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit with wind speed of 40 MPH
-Valkyrie was recovered, with successful parachute deployment

Today the team went out for our L1 launch event! The event was a massive success as we launched 7 H motor rockets and multiple members obtained their L1 certification. Big thanks to our mentors Steve Eves and Chris Pearson as this event would have never happened without them.

Last week, we went to Tripoli Mid Ohio for our second test flight! It was a MASSIVE success with an apogee of 10,415ft! We also had a perfect recovery of our rocket as well. We plan on launching VALKYRIE at IREC in the summer.

Photos from Valkyrie's first flight! (There will be more coming soon!) Here's some details about the test flight:

Unfortunately, during the flight the main parachute was unable to deploy due to the upper body tube and nose cone failing to separate. Valkyrie hit the ground pretty hard, causing damage to the upper body tube, and the avionics bay. However, the nose cone, aft body tube, fins, and payload are intact.

This may not be the outcome we wanted, but this is the reason why we do test flights. It's important that we encounter these issues when we have enough time to resolve them before IREC.

Despite setbacks, seeing our rocket take off and land mostly intact after all the work we put in is still incredible.
