As we celebrate our 85th Anniversary, we look back at the leaders who guided the association through the 1980s—a decade that saw soccer's popularity surge across the United States, continued expansion of coaching education, and growing opportunities at the youth, high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

1980–81 – Robert Nye, College of Wooster (Ohio)
1982–83 – Tim Schum, Binghamton University (N.Y.)
1984–85 – Thomas Fleck, Florida State Youth Soccer Association
1986–87 – Joe Morrone, University of Connecticut
1988–89 – William Holleman, Lovett School (Ga.)

Throughout the 1980s, these presidents helped guide the association through a period of opportunity and change, strengthening its commitment to serving coaches at every level of the game. Their leadership expanded educational resources, fostered a stronger coaching community, and positioned the association for continued success in the decades that followed.
