PHS Girls Flag Football

This past Monday, we had a great day hosting the NFL Play60 Camp with former #1 overall pick and .g at !

If you don’t know about Operation Breakthrough, they are an organization in Kansas City that does so much to help our youth, but more importantly our less fortuned youth. They provide a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty.

One thing that is very important to me is seeing the kids in our program giving back to our community. Seeing our girls get out there and provide the best environment possible for these kids really put a smile on my face. Seeing the young kids come in and not really knowing what to expect and then watching their faces glow up and ultimately leaving very happy was great to see! We have an awesome group of kids here at Park Hill South.

And Jameis and Chu were great too! Both giving our girls life lessons as the day went on. (By the way, Jameis is by far the funniest person in the entire League…)

This past week, I, Coach Reffitt was mailed a package from the Chiefs. I opened this package and was surprised with some collectible items revealing that I was awarded “Coach of the Week” for Week 2 of our Girls Flag Season.

I don’t like taking the credit for an award that I feel like is represented by our team and our athletes. These kids come in every day and work hard to achieve one common goal. With their work ethic, that goal WILL be achieved. This award is a TEAM goal and that is why I felt the need to share. Coaching them has been an overall joy. We also have some of the best coaches I could ask for. Their dedication to this sport is a huge reason for our success.

We had a great 3 days of Youth Camp this week. Forced into the gym for Day 3 due to expected weather that never came, but we made the best of it! Over 50 campers came out and learned the game of flag football and had fun doing it.

Youth Camp Time!
