The Lacrosse Association of Kansas City (LAKC) is thrilled to announce a landmark moment in the growth of the sport across the region: Wichita Youth Lacrosse has officially become the first lacrosse program outside of the Kansas City metro area to join LAKC, expanding the league’s reach and strengthening its mission to grow the game through teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship.

“This partnership is an incredible milestone for Wichita Youth Lacrosse, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity,” said Lane Zahourek, Co-Director of Wichita Youth Lacrosse. “Our program is built on teamwork, character, and community, and LAKC embodies those same values. Being welcomed as the first program outside the Kansas City metro is both an honor and a testament to the passion of our players, families, and coaches. We’re excited for what this means for our athletes and for the future of lacrosse in Wichita.”

Wichita Youth Lacrosse Association brings with it a powerful mission centered on growing the game for K–12 girls and boys across the Wichita metro area while instilling essential values both on and off the field.  While competition and a drive to win are core elements of the game, Wichita Youth Lacrosse places the development of character and life skills above all else. The program honors Wichita’s rich history while fostering a love for lacrosse and building a strong foundation for success as students, athletes, and future leaders.

Expanding beyond Kansas City is a major step forward, and Wichita is exactly the type of community we hoped to grow with and elevate the game together.”
