Meet Ethan Adams, one of our Golf Shop Attendants here at Hodge Park!

Where are you from? I was born on the island of Haiti, but my parents moved us back to the States when I was only 6 months old.

Where do you live now? I have lived in Kansas City since I was 12, for almost 30 years.

School background: Graduated from Park Hill High School in 2003 and achieved a Bachelor’s in I/O Psychology from Northwest MO State in 2007.

Career background: I started working Outside Services at Shoal Creek when it first opened in 2001 and moved inside the golf shop at Hodge Park in 2003. I’ve opened a couple of businesses and held some other full-time positions in my time, but it always comes back to the golf course, somehow!

How long have you been playing golf? The first time I realized golfers were famous and awesome was watching Tiger Woods win the 1997 Masters. After that, I was hooked. I joined a golf club in middle school, played high school golf, and am really trying to make this a lifetime sport!

What do you love about Hodge Park? Of course, the people—the golfers and fellow staff. They’re the engine that keeps the place running. But that’s an easy answer… I have a special affinity for the clubhouse, a place I’ve been around longer than I haven’t. It just has that certain je ne sais quoi!

What do you love most about golf? There is no single “right” way to play golf. A golfer can make the game mean as much or as little to them as they like.

Favorite Pro Golfer? All-time, it’s still Tiger. More currently, I like Kevin Kisner and Rory McIlroy.

Most memorable round? I shot a 78 at Mules National a couple years ago, for no reason at all. Hadn’t been practicing or playing much at that time, and just decided to chip in for a birdie on the 4th hole and shoot a top-10 score of my life that day.

Favorite sports team? Kansas City Chiefs, easily!

Favorite food? Steak and Waffle Fries

Favorite drink? Dark roast coffee (or scotch, if it’s after noon)

Hobbies outside of golf? I have two main interests: my wife and kids. We have a full youth sports schedule year-round that keeps us occupied. I’ll squeeze in some terrible dad-level video gaming at night, though!
