Why do you train? 🏋️‍♀️
For Lainey, the answer is simple: to be fit enough to live a life without boundaries.
She isn’t just working out to look a certain way; she’s working out so she can experience the world to its absolute fullest.
In her own words: "The level of fitness KCI brought to my life has allowed me to adventure beyond my wildest dreams. And push further. It allows me to explore the country and our world in ways many humans never will, which is pretty incredible."
But if you ask Lainey what keeps her coming back, it isn't just the workouts..it’s the people standing next to her.
Lainey is the type of member who is always hyping others up, checking in, and making new faces feel welcome. When asked who inspires her the most at KCI, she immediately pointed to Sandra Tillman, calling her "tough as nails" for her consistency through years of health challenges.
Lainey added: "It might sound cliché but honestly, everyone in the gym inspires me in some way. With their attitude, or consistency, or humor, or growth, or grit..."
Thank you for bringing your community-first energy to the gym every single week, Lainey!

What is your definition of "making progress"?
For a lot of people, it means adding weight to the barbell or seeing a faster time on the clock. But Sandra has a perspective that completely changes how you look at a workout.
Sandra has been a part of the gym family since before KCI even existed. Over the last 15 years, she has faced the kind of life obstacles that would sideline almost anyone. For the past 9+ years, she has been quietly and relentlessly fighting Stage IV cancer, navigating endless rounds of chemo and major surgeries.
When Sandra looks at her fitness, she explicitly talks about her PRs in two eras: "BC" (Before Cancer) and "AC" (After Cancer).
In her own words: "After 9+ years of chemo and surgeries, I'm finally starting to achieve some new (although lower) PR's. I'm 10 years older now and I still have Stage IV cancer but the treatment is easier now - I may never get back to the level I was BC, but it's satisfying to make new progress... CrossFit made me fitter than ever. As a result, I'm still here!"
Sandra’s consistency over a decade of severe ups and downs is nothing short of legendary. She is the absolute definition of what it means to have an unshakeable spirit.
Progress isn't a straight line. It's about deciding to keep moving forward, no matter what cards life deals you.
Sandra, you are an inspiration to every single coach and member who steps foot on our floor. Thank you for showing us what true strength looks like. 🥊❤️
We recently had a Mom walk through our doors with the simple mission of finding a gym that she can bring her kids along with her and they can regularly watch their mom work out.
That’s the coolest part of our community as a whole, we aren’t just a gym you work out in. We are a place that welcomes the entire family. We have a decade worth of Moms who’ve brought along their kids over the past 11 years. We’ve built an entire Youth program for every single age, because we don’t believe fitness is just something for adults.
So if you have been searching for a community for your entire family, we would love to welcome you to try a class for free! Head to our bio to fill out the form.
See you in the gym!

If you think fitness is just about leaderboard scores, PRs, and how you look in the mirror... we want to challenge that today. 🏋️‍♂️
We asked our coaching staff what being "FIT" actually means to them once they walk out of the gym doors. Swipe through to read their answers.
Notice a theme? It’s not about competing with the person next to you. It’s about building the capacity, energy, and resilience to show up for the people who depend on you—whether that’s your kids, your grandkids, or your community.
That is what we’re actually training for at KCI.

Want to know the biggest secret to long-term fitness success? 🤫
We asked our coaches, the people who have spent a combined total of decades training, what small, consistent habit moved the needle the most for them.
Swipe through to see their answers.
Spoiler alert: None of them said "perfect nutrition," "feeling moticated," or "never feeling tired." They all said the exact same thing: Just showing up.
Fitness isn't built on the days you feel 100% motivated and crushed the workout. It's built on the days you felt tired, busy, or stressed, but you put your shoes on and walked through the gym doors anyway.
Stop waiting for motivation to strike. Build the habit.
Next time you're debating whether to skip class, remember the coaches' advice. Pack your bag, get in the car, and just show up. We’ll take care of the rest. 👊
🙌 Shout out to these veteran coaches for leading by example!

It is incredibly easy to treat life’s biggest transitions as a reason to slow down, pause, or step away from your goals.
But Erika decided to write a different story.
Instead of letting a pregnancy and healthy baby boy slow her down, she used it to redefine what she is capable of. Since hitting her 1-year postpartum milestone this past May, she hasn’t just maintained her fitness...she has completely shattered it!!
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because Erika steps onto the gym floor every single day ready to work. It happens because she chooses grit over comfort, and ex*****on over excuses.
And now, all that relentless daily work has led to something massive: qualifying for her very first CrossFit competition at the Monster Games later this month!
It takes a village to raise a family, and it takes a community to build an athlete. We are so incredibly proud of the work you put in every single day, Erika, and we are honored to be the village that gets to cheer you on (and hold the baby!) while you go crush the competition floor.
Good luck at the Monster Games, Erika! We are all behind you! 🏋️‍♀️🔥 Baby steps turn into giant leaps when you have this kind of drive.

We all have those mornings.... the days where the alarm goes off and a thousand perfectly valid excuses instantly flood your mind.
“I’m too tired.”
“I’m too busy.”
“This workout looks too hard.”
“It’s just going to be frustrating today.”
Chris hears those exact same voices. He faces the exact same friction we all do when it comes to showing up, stepping through the gym doors, and putting in the work.
But what sets Chris apart isn’t a lack of excuses, it’s his absolute refusal to let them win.
When a movement doesn’t work the way he wants it to, he doesn’t throw in the towel. He adapts. He problem-solves. He spends days relentlessly testing, tweaking, and trying again until he figures it out.
Case in point: He struggled for days just to find the right positioning for a front squat. Chris just kept showing up, kept failing, and kept adjusting until, on day three, he completely figured it out.
The result? Recent, massive personal bests in his deadlifts, cleans, and snatches.
Progress is built on deciding that your goals matter more than your excuses.
Thank you for setting the standard of what it means to persevere, Chris. We are incredibly proud to coach you! 🙌🔥
