After six incredible weeks of creativity, innovation, learning, and fun, our Fusion students are ready to show the community what they’ve accomplished!

Come celebrate their hard work as students showcase projects in coding, robotics, engineering, digital creation, 3D printing, art, and more. We’ll also be recognizing students during our special Awards Ceremony.

This event is open to family, friends, community partners, supporters, and anyone who wants to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our youth.

Throughout the summer, students have explored new technologies, built friendships, developed leadership skills, and discovered talents they didn’t know they had. Now it’s time to celebrate all they’ve achieved!

Before the parades, barbecues, and fireworks, stop by for a workout, a swim, or simply some time to recharge.

🤖🚀 Week 3 of Fusion Summer Camp is complete, and what a week it was!

It’s hard to believe we’re already more than halfway through our summer journey together.

This week, our students stepped into the world of Robotics & Engineering, where they:

🤖 Coded and programmed robots with community mentor Grant Lewis
🚁 Learned how to fly drones with Larkin Collins
🍕 Made their own pizza with our friends at Kid in the Kitchen

A huge thank you to our community partners and volunteers who helped make this week such a success. Experiences like these help expose our students to new skills, career pathways, and opportunities they may not otherwise have the chance to explore.

Most importantly, students continued building friendships, growing their confidence, trying new things, and discovering talents they didn’t know they had.

The future is being built right here at Fusion, and we’re excited to see what’s next! 🚀

🚀🚀🚀 Fusion Week 2 is off to a strong start at the Linwood Y!

Yesterday, our students toured the UMKC Innovation Studio, getting a firsthand look at creativity, technology, and innovation in action.

Today was packed with hands-on learning and a few fun surprises. We welcomed the Mobile Dairy Classroom, where students experienced a live milking demonstration and Q&A session. They asked great questions and got to see where food really comes from in a meaningful, interactive way.

To top it off, the day ended with a surprise visit from the ice cream truck, which was a big hit with everyone.

Students also kicked off their 3D printing projects and will continue building and creating throughout the rest of the week.

Great energy, great learning, and a great day at the Linwood Y.☀️

🎨✨ Week 1 of Fusion Summer Camp is officially in the books! ✨🎨

Our Visual Arts & Creative Expression Week was full of creativity, laughter, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences.

This week, students:
🌌 Created galaxy paintings with
🧑🏼‍🍳 Learned kitchen skills and made their own chicken alfredo and garlic bread with A Kid & A Kitchen
🏊🏾‍♂️ Enjoyed pool time
🫱🏾‍🫲🏽 Built new friendships and connections
🎨 Expressed their creativity through hands-on projects and activities

We wrapped up the week with an incredible field trip to the at the Southeast Library, where students were introduced to new technology and creative possibilities. Thank you to the KC Digital Media Lab team for hosting our students!

Now we’re gearing up for Week 2: Creative Design & Maker Labs Week! 🚀

Students will explore design, innovation, and hands-on creation while preparing for another exciting partnership experience and a visit to the UMKC Innovation Studio.

Fusion is off to an amazing start, and we can’t wait to see what our students create next!

💐 It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of longtime Linwood YMCA member, Mary Williams.

Since 2018, Mary has been a valued part of our YMCA family. While her presence will be deeply missed, we are grateful for the years she spent as a member of our community and the impact she made simply by being a part of it.

On behalf of the Linwood Y, we extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Williams family during this difficult time. We pray for comfort, peace, and strength in the days ahead.

Mary will always be remembered as a cherished member of the Linwood community.
