🎉 20 YEARS OF THE PROVIDENCE YMCA! 💙
On Monday, we celebrated two decades of connection, belonging and community at the Providence YMCA/Ball Family Center!
Since opening its doors in 2006, the Providence Y has been so much more than a building. It’s been a place where kids learned to swim, families found support, neighbors became friends and generations of Wyandotte County residents found a place to belong.
A special thank you to Stacy Stephens, Executive Director of the Providence YMCA/Ball Family Center, for leading the celebration, and Mark Hulet, YMCA of Greater Kansas City President and CEO, for sharing the history and memories of the Providence Y’s beginnings.
We were also honored to recognize David Ball's family, who helped cut the ribbon when the Y first opened its doors 20 years ago, and to welcome Gordon Criswell, Senior Advisor to Mayor Christal Watson and Providence YMCA Community Mission Board member, who presented an official proclamation from the Unified Government recognizing this milestone.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story, from those who helped open the doors in 2006 to those walking through them today.
Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the community we’ve built, and the next 20 years! 🎉

Thank you to our line workers who are working hard to restore power throughout our city. Providence Ymca has power restored and we are ready for you to join us this morning.
We hope everyone stayed safe overnight! 💙
Unfortunately, the power is currently out at the Providence YMCA, so we will have a delayed opening until power is restored. We’ll share an update as soon as we’re able to reopen.
In the meantime, you can still get your morning movement in! Join our Y community online through the YMCA360 app for a morning stretch, yoga class, workout, and more.
Stay safe, and we hope to see you soon!

🌟 New Classes with Tom Wolford!
We’re excited to welcome Tom Wolford to several new class times:
Low Impact Strength (Stretch) & Tone
🗓️ Mondays & Wednesdays at 8:30 AM
This class takes participants through low-impact intervals of strength training with high-impact results! It’s perfect for beginners and experienced exercisers who prefer more joint-friendly movements. You’ll use weight training—light or heavy, based on your needs—to promote strength and balance.
Total Body Stretch
🗓️ Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8:15 AM
🗓️ Wednesdays & Fridays at 9:30 AM
This class focuses on stretching all major muscle groups. Stretching can help reduce the risk of injury, enhance sports performance, and improve everyday functional movement. Your instructor will guide you through stretches designed to relieve stress on your joints while maintaining flexibility and muscle function.
Total Body Stretch is recommended for all exercise levels!
🧘 Yoga Schedule Update
Beginning Tuesday, August 18, John will be teaching Yoga at 6:30 PM on Tuesdays going forward.
Please note that Kayla’s Monday 6:30 PM Yoga class will no longer be on the schedule.
