Tuesday- Rain, Rain, Please Go Away! The Benton Lady Cardinals Softball team endured two rain delays on a stormy evening. Eventually emerging victorious 7-4 in a battle of Cardinals over Lawson. With the game tied at 4 in the bottom of the sixth-inning Cardinals' (8-4) Junior first-baseman Klarabelle Turner (3-4, 2B and 5 RBI) stepped into the muddy batter's box fighting not only the pitcher but the rain pouring down on Hyde 6 that turned into a waterfall from her helmet distorting her vision. Turner overcame the elements and cleared the bases with a 3-run double giving the Cardinals a 7-4 advantage. A day later after the 7th inning couldn't be completed Turner's clutch-double became the game-winning hit capping off a comeback for the Lady Cardinals who entered the inning trailing 4-2. Junior Pitcher Shania Noland (W, 6 IP, 9 4 H, 5 K and 1 BB) picked up the win in the circle. Noland also had a big-game at the plate going 3-4 and scoring twice. Seniors Victorria Barron (RBI) and Nik Mollus (single) also contributed offensively. The Lady Cardinals return to Hyde 6 on Thur. Sept. 17th at 5 pm against Maryville for Senior Night celebrating: Victorria Barron, Nik Mollus, Makayla Peters and Ruby Stein.
