Porter & Friends are going to be at the Bronson Children's Hospital Run & Walk on Sunday, September 27 🙂

The 5K and 1-mile routes take participants on a tour through downtown Kalamazoo.

It's designed for both competitive runners and families who prefer a casual stroll.

By registering, donating or sponsoring, you are helping to support the Bronson Health Foundation's Children's Hospital Fund.

The Fund helps to maintain vital programs and services such as:

• Art and music therapy

OFFICIAL: New Ownership Group Takes Over Kalamazoo Soccer, Launching Full Rebrand and Major Stadium Renovations for 2027

A new era of summer sports and entertainment is officially arriving in Kalamazoo.

Kzoo Soccer announced today that it has taken over local semi-pro soccer operations to launch a revamped men's team in USL League Two and a women's team in the USL W League, kicking off in May 2027.

The new club succeeds Kalamazoo FC, whose owner Dave Shufelt recently stepped down after eight seasons to pass the torch to new stewards.

The club is owned by Brian Colopy, owner of the Kalamazoo Growlers and Outlier Events, and Aaron Guerrero, a 13-year sports management veteran who will serve as club president and oversee daily operations.

While soccer is at the heart of the club, the new ownership group is building a brand anchored in total entertainment, fun, and community engagement.

As part of taking over the team, the owners are completely rebranding the organization from the ground up.

To ensure the identity belongs to the city, the club is handing the naming rights directly to the community.

Starting today, fans can submit name ideas at the link in the comments.

Community submissions will shape a shortlist of five names to be revealed October 15, with the final club name, crest, and colors officially unveiled on November 5.

The club will continue to play at Soisson-Rapacz-Clason Field at Mayors' Riverfront Park, but fans can expect a dramatically transformed venue.

Kzoo Soccer is undertaking major site renovations designed to elevate the facility into a top-tier destination for soccer, massive community events, festivals, and year-round entertainment.

USL League Two and the USL W League represent the top pre-professional summer leagues in the country, showcasing elite college athletes competing on their path to the pros.

Kalamazoo's men's team will compete in the Great Lakes Division alongside regional rivals like the Flint City Bucks.

Our baseball field turned into THREE wiffle ball fields this weekend, and here’s how… 🙌

When we renamed the ballpark Honor Credit Union Stadium, we wanted it to be a place for more than just baseball.

This weekend, we invited local youth baseball teams to put together squads of 6+ players and compete in a full day of wiffle ball at the stadium.

And between games, we fired up the videoboard to watch the Detroit Lions. 🏈

We’re bringing wiffle ball to the stadium this Sunday, September 13 🙌

With so many local teams wrapping up tryouts, we wanted to give players a chance to get together for a fun team bonding experience before the season gets going.

The tournament will feature two age groups (10-13U + 14-18U), teams of 6-8 players, a 3-game guarantee, and games umpired by current and former Kalamazoo Valley Community College baseball players.

Games will be 5 innings or have a 45-minute time limit (finish the inning). Registration closes this Thursday (9/10), so don’t wait to get your team signed up!

We’ll also have the video board on for the Detroit Lions game at 1 PM 🙂
