🏃‍♀️✨ Final Race Day Information ✨🏃‍♂️

We are so excited to see everyone this Saturday! Please take a moment to review these important race day details:

📍 Packet Pick-Up
•Friday 9/18 at The ROCC (1402 S Main, Joplin, MO) from 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM.
•Morning-of pick up begins at 6:00 AM.
👉 We strongly encourage picking up Friday to avoid the morning rush. Also a great time to bring along a friend who wants to join, though we can’t guarantee shirts/swag for last-minute registrations.

🏅 Course
•USATF 5K Certified ✅ (course picture below)
•Please review the course ahead of time. Volunteers will be out to help with navigation and traffic.

🚗 Parking (parking lot pictures below)
•Parker Mortuary (15th & Joplin) – cars must be moved by 9:30 AM.
•Wilder’s (approx 12th & Joplin).
🚫 Do not park on Joplin Ave.

⏰ Start + Awards
•Race begins promptly at 7:00 AM.
•Awards start around 8:30 AM. Starting with Proclamation of Teddy Steen
⚠️ City requires runners off roadways by 8:20 AM. You can still finish, but must move to sidewalks at that time.

💧 On the Course
•1 water stop at approx. 1.5 miles.
•Bathrooms available at The ROCC before & after the race.

🐾 Other Notes
•Dog-friendly course! Please pick up after your pets.
•Always run on the left side of the road, facing traffic.

💙 A VERY SPECIAL RACE DAY ANNOUNCEMENT 💙

We are officially 2 weeks out and we have something incredibly special planned following this year’s ROCC The Journey 5K.

At 8:30 AM on race day, the Mayor of Joplin will join us to present a proclamation honoring the life and legacy of Teddy Steen and officially declaring Teddy Steen Day in the City of Joplin.

This race was one of the many things Teddy believed in and helped bring to life, and this year, it means a little more.

After you cross the finish line, stick around and join us as we celebrate Teddy, the legacy she left behind, and the impact she continues to have on recovery and our community. 💙

We can’t think of a more fitting way to close out race morning.

💜 There’s a reason we chose September. 🏃‍♀️

When we created The ROCC The Journey 5K, we knew we wanted it to be more than just a race. We chose September intentionally because September is Recovery Month, and what better time to come together as a community and celebrate the journey of recovery?

Recovery is a journey. It takes strength. It takes perseverance. There are hard miles, unexpected turns, people who help you along the way, and moments when simply continuing forward is something worth celebrating.

That’s what the ROCC The Journey 5K represents.

Whether you run, walk, volunteer, cheer from the sidelines, or show up to support someone you love, you are helping us celebrate recovery and show our community that recovery is possible.
