Arkansas Rugby Hall of Fame

UofA 1s led 28 -5 over the 2s @ half in this intersquad scrimmage today here in Fayetteville's Walker Park. Passing and pass decisions where improved from last year. Kicking for post was excellent, kicking for touch needs improvement, admitted the fly half. The pack play and line outs were reasonably played.
The second half saw the two sides inter mixxed into equal teams. Play definitively fell off under a hot sun in the second half. The referee slowed the game for instruction after a couple of collapsed scrums and a yellow card. There was only one player that was unable to continue play due to a collision. So the team avoided any major injuries, pleasing the coaching staff.
The Razorbacks begin play next Friday Sept. 4th at 7pm on the Rec field. The opening opponent will be Drury out of Springfield Missouri. The Hogs will then go on a 4 game road test before returnig for a final 3 home game stretch. There was a nice crowd in attendace that cogragated in the shade, to enjoy this fine college rugby event.

UofA begins 2nd week of practice for 2026 fall campaign here on campus. Heat index rules force Hogs indoors for this training session. Over 40 players are here for tonights training

UofA Rugby practice started today for the 2026 fall season. 22 showed for day one.
Stretching and and a timed fitness test run began practice, followed by passing drills, tackling techniques. Plenty of water breaks more basic drills and finally a light tackle scrimage. Post practice coaching points reminded players to take the drills to scrimage and the game. Coach Cummings was pleased with the effort and happy to see the talents of his new players and the meshing of the team. Practice continues each day this week at the Gryphons compound in Lowell, 6 to 8 each evening. Woo Pig!

I promise to give all my efforts to bring back Arkansas Rugby Hall of Fame, to keep everyone informed on each and every Sunday night. Scores, interviews and highlights along with schedules and roster. Covid really knocked me out the loop. Just letting you know by fall we will be back at it. I will need at least one dependable person from each to call to get final scores and schedule. I think if there a one shop for alk scores, it might help you keep your sight rolling. The Ozark used to do it, but times have changed but there should be a Rugby event in Arkansas somewhere in Atkansas that club and college teams men and women can all attended. Hopefully the high school teams will call in to and we can get some home grown kids hooked early

Arkansas bounces back nicely this week in Omaha going 4-1 @ H.of A. 7s tourney. Hogs beat Iowa & Okie State, Then lose any chance to advance to finals by letting game slip away against Wayne State. Hogs finish strong and beat Iowa for a second time before finishing off K-State for the fourth win of the day, ending 4-1. The season is over. I encourage all Razorback Ruggers that stay here for the summer to put together a 7s team practice at least touch and play as much 7s as possible, meeting up for at least a couple of tournaments for the summer.
