Jacksonville Judo Training Center is extremely proud to celebrate our student **Andrew**, who earned **one gold medal and one silver medal** at the **2026 Black ICE Open** this past Saturday!

Andrew was the **sole representative of Jacksonville Judo Training Center** at the tournament, and he carried the responsibility of representing our entire club with confidence, determination, and pride. He stepped onto the mat ready to compete and delivered an outstanding performance against strong competition.

Throughout the tournament, Andrew demonstrated excellent technique, courage, discipline, sportsmanship, and a tremendous fighting spirit. Every match reflected the countless hours of training, preparation, and hard work he has dedicated to improving his judo.

Competing alone without teammates beside you can be challenging, but Andrew remained focused and represented our dojo exceptionally well. He showed that one determined athlete can make a powerful impact and proudly brought home both **gold and silver** for Team JJTC.

Winning medals is never easy. It requires consistency, sacrifice, the willingness to learn from every experience, and the courage to continue fighting when the matches become difficult. Andrew displayed all of these qualities and proved once again that dedication and perseverance produce great results.

We are incredibly proud of Andrew—not only for the medals he earned, but also for the way he represented his coaches, teammates, family, and Jacksonville Judo Training Center.

We are incredibly proud of our student, Jose, who recently visited the world-famous Kodokan in Tokyo, Japan—the birthplace of Judo and the spiritual home of judoka around the world.

Jose is one of the top competitors at Jacksonville Judo Training Center and a true role model for our students. His dedication, work ethic, sportsmanship, and commitment to continuous improvement embody the values we strive to teach every day on the mat.

Visiting the Kodokan is a dream for many judoka, and we are excited to see Jose experience the rich history and traditions of the art we love. His journey is a reminder that Judo is more than a sport—it is a lifelong path of learning, growth, and respect.

📢 HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE

Jacksonville Judo Training Center will be closed on Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

There will be no Kids or Adult Judo classes on Friday. Classes will resume on Monday at their regular scheduled times.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the athletes, coaches, and families from the visiting clubs who joined us for today's Open Mat. It was a privilege to share the mat with so many dedicated judoka from across our region. Events like these showcase what makes the judo community special—respect, friendship, learning, and a shared passion for the sport.

We are grateful for every throw, every round of randori, every technique shared, and every new friendship formed today. The energy, sportsmanship, and positive attitude displayed by everyone made this event a tremendous success.
