Some recent changes at the Range that might affect you if you use this particular Range.

Club Policy Update: Silhouette Range (Range 4B) now restricted to Rimfire only.


In case you have not seen the signage yet Range 4B, the "Silhouette Range", is now restricted to rimfire cartridges only. This means that cartridges like 22 shorts, 22 longs (if anyone even shots those anymore), 22 long rifles, 22 magnum, and the various 17 rimfires are the only cartridges allowed on Range 4B. The Board of Directors made this change in July after range equipment like the 22 splatter shields were damaged by centerfire pistols and/or black powder rifles. Damage to Club property from being shot by (just a few of) our members is a very costly problem for the Club and there will be other measures in the future to crack down on this problem.

The only exception to this policy is the "Black Powder" match is still allowed on this range. These folks use vintage/traditional black powder fi****ms with powder puff loads and the supervised setup ensures projectiles go safely into berms with no chance of damaging Club property or escaping the range. Firing of black powder fi****ms NOT during a match on this range is NOT allowed.

Several of Gateway’s board members joined former Jacksonville Jaguars player Tom McManus on The Horse’s Mouth for a relaxed, conversational discussion about the club and its mission. They highlighted Gateway’s commitment to firearm safety, community involvement, and education, as well as their goal of encouraging people of all ages to explore responsible gun enthusiasm and become part of the Gateway community. The board members enjoyed the informal, candid setting — a space where real people shared real experiences and genuine perspectives.
