Ed Austin Regional parkrun - Event number 211 - 29th August 2026:

Slightly cooler but still very humid morning as this week 73 people ran, jogged and walked the course. We had NO tourists today, but say WELCOME to 4 first-timers! Please join us again!

At least 10 parkrun regulars represented at a race on the other side of town, so the turnout was a bit lower than usual. Still not much in the juniors department, with the KIRK siblings the only under-18 runners with us today. No barkrunners either, but a stroller was in the mix - the big tree that blocked the path near the dog park was fortunately cleared in time, so no diverting over the grass this time. Thanks to Kim BARROWS for bringing FROZEN popsicles once again, we are getting so spoiled! Soon it will be too cool for those treats, so get'em while you can!

We had three milestones today: Andrew PERI marked his 50th today! Congratulations! The big guy is always a joy to have with us! Denise ANDER and Kelly KIRK meanwhile marked their 25th parkruns today - well done, Ladies!

Our MINNIE was battling car trouble and didn't make it to tailwalk today, but was present during our Starbucks time afterwards - great to see her before she heads back to Colorado again!

A total of 24 parkrunners managed to attend every single one of the FIVE Ed Austin Regional parkruns in person this month of August, as either runners, walkers or volunteers - well done indeed, and thank you for all your patronage!

Speaking of well done, it was a good battle up front between young Carter KIRK and Seth MATHIS, with Carter edging out Seth by just a couple of seconds 21:48 to 21:50 - wow! First timer Gemma GRIFFITHS meanwhile took the Ladies' honors in 25:49, great way to start her parkrun career! Congratulations to all of them, and to the 8 parkrunners who achieved new personal best times today: Javonda AGUILAR, Michael CURRY, Kelly TOMSON, Ronald F ROSALES, Megan OLAH, Vivian JORDAN, Debbie BURDON and Jonathan MASSEY. Outstanding, y'all!

Ed Austin Regional parkrun - Event number 210 - 22nd August 2026:

Like so many parkruns around the world, it was a TUTU (2-2) edition for us today, and quite a few parkrunners took part in this time-honored tradition, part of a handsome turnout of 96 people who ran, jogged and walked the course. We had a total of 7 first timers, and some "special status" tourists as Blaise GLENNON joined us once more before returning to England next week - we'll miss you, but see you again, mate! The SNEDEKERS - Sol and Terri - were also with us today, and while they hail from the D.C. area, it turns out they will be relocating to Jacksonville and become locals in the near future - great!

Once more the KIRK siblings Madison and Carter were the only juniors alongside Samuel HARBER, with the rest of the young'uns still reeling from back-to-school, apparently. No barkrunners or strollers today, which is a good thing - because a storm last night downed a sizable tree right on top of our path near the dog park. No biggie, it was easy to go around (which we had to do a total of 4 times!), but wouldn't have been ideal for a stroller to divert over the grass. No harm done, though - and hopefully it'll be cleared before next week.

It was Chad THORNTON's 50th Volunteer Milestone today! Thank you, Chad, for all the help. He has become an invaluable member of our core team, and we regularly coerce him to take responsibility of our equipment, always a key task!

We also got to celebrate Steve BRUCE once again! Just one week after his 100th parkrun, it was time to jubilate over his 70th birthday, which saw a surprise visit by several of his family members who brought along heaps of sweet treats (donut holes, cookies, coffee cakes and whatnot!). Thank you for setting it all up, Isabel TORRES-PADIN - good times indeed! We were able to wash those treats down with FROZEN popsicles once again provided by Kim BARROWS - thanks very much! Party mood all around!

Thank you to Crazy AUNT SUE for bringing more tee p*e, as well as cute free 3D-printed animal bookmarks for everyone!

Jonathan REX sporadically shows up at our parkrun and is more often than not found at the sharp end of the field, today earning his 5th career EARp First Finish with a time of 19:39! He is joined by Alyssa EISERT on the Ladies' side, who achieved this feat for her second time at EARp, with a time of 27:37. Congratulations to both of them, and to the NINE parkrunners who clocked new personal bests today: Rigo GALINDO, Javonda AGUILAR, Eric TOMSON, Kelly TOMSON, Tiffany KHESED, Ronald F ROSALES, Samuel HARBER, Moriah CURRY, and Brooke McKIE. Awesome job, y'all!
