January energy starts high.
January follow-through is… inconsistent.
This week is about closing that gap.
Stay close. Structure is coming.

I’ve never considered myself a high-level or elite athlete.
Growing up, I gravitated toward track and cross country for a simple reason: no cuts. Everyone was welcome. No tryouts. No gatekeepers.

I found leadership in those sports—but not scholarships. I wasn’t fast enough to run in college. I didn’t make the high school basketball team. There was no moment where someone said, “Yep, this is your thing.”

What I HAVE done over the last 30 years is show up.
I’ve protected my fitness. I’ve stayed close to my personal bests. I’ve treated every workout not as a breakthrough moment, but as a brick laid on top of another brick.

This weekend at HYROX Anaheim, Anthony and I finished 2nd in our age group—not because of talent, but because of time. Consistency. Reps. Belief that fitness is for everyone willing to keep showing up.

Fitness isn’t reserved for the gifted.
And it definitely doesn’t happen overnight.

We’re just layering bricks.
All day—especially when it gets hard.
