Your lower legs are the connection between your brain and the pedals.

Race drivers make hundreds—sometimes thousands—of brake and throttle inputs. As the calves, shins and ankles fatigue, braking consistency and throttle precision can suffer.

Strong lower legs help drivers:
🏁 Generate consistent braking force
🏁 Improve trail-braking control
🏁 Modulate the throttle more precisely
🏁 Transition between pedals faster
🏁 Maintain pedal feel late in a race

Race conditions don’t start when the visor goes down—they start in training.

80%+ heart rate. Twelve 60-second performance stations. Straight into a hot lap on the simulator. Repeat for a full hour in 90°F heat.

Building the physical and mental resilience drivers need before they ever hit the track.

These are three of our favorite core exercises used in the training of racing drivers.

Zercher Carry: Reinforces core bracing and postural strength while teaching drivers to stay stable under heavy loads, helping them maintain control and resist fatigue during long stints.

Turkish Get-Up: Builds full-body stability, coordination, and rotational control for better performance under G-forces.

Kettlebell Windmill: Improves rotational mobility, shoulder, stability and lateral core strength, helping drivers maintain controlling posture while managing cornering forces

Give them a shot and let us know how you do!

Heart rate above 80%. 12 x 60-second stations. Straight into a hot lap on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course simulator. Repeat for 60 minutes in 90°F heat. This is the closest thing to race-day without strapping into the car.

The Split Attention drill on the Sensory Station drill trains the brain’s ability to process central information while simultaneously monitoring & reacting to peripheral stimuli.

For drivers, split attention is happening constantly in the car.

A driver must simultaneously monitor:

Central focus
• The racing line
• Apex and braking markers
• Car positioning

Peripheral inputs
• Cars alongside or approaching
• Flag stations
• Mirrors
• Track edge and grip changes
• Dash data or warning lights

A driver who lacks strong split attention will often:
• Miss cars entering their blind spot
• Lose situational awareness in traffic
• React slower to incidents or debris
• Struggle in tight packs or restarts

has to tap the yellow dots as fast as possible while simultaneously
Tapping 1. Red “b” & Blue “q”
NOT tapping 1. Blue”b” & red “q”

This drill is performed after approximately 5 to 6 minutes of training at 80 to 90% heart rate. This sequence is repeated for approximately 60 minutes. The drill is made harder the more success the driver achieves, thus forcing neuroplasticity gains as the brain adapts & overcomes. This video is at the end of the session.

Our partnership with gives us objective real-time data on movement velocity & joint mobility, allowing our coaches to prescribe loads based on speed, monitor, fatigue, & track range of motion changes. This turns strength & mobility training into a data driven, measurable, & reputable system for drivers.
