How Coach Amy & Coach Stacy Met
Some people become friends. Some become teammates. Some become family.
That’s how we’d describe Coach Stacy & Coach Amy.
Stacy never had a little sister…so Amy became it.
The first time Amy saw Stacy, he was participating in a charity swim for a mutual friend who was battling ALS. Amy was coordinator and Stacy was participants. He was taking on the incredible challenge of a 100x100 swim. Amy watched this confident, bald guy jump into a lane and, at the time, knew him simply as “the confident bald guy.”
A master’s swim program started that same year. Stacy started showing up at the Masters swim & began sharing a lane with Amy.
And that’s when the friendship really began.
Stacy was a great swimmer to draft off of as Amy finished her professional triathlon career. Having a slightly faster swimmer in the lane gave Amy the push she needed. And humor to go along it. She became known to Stacy as the Snuffleupagus gal when she snorkel drilled.
Stacy’s impression of Amy?
That uptight professional triathlete who was going to finish the workout at ALL costs. Laser focused. No messing around.
Amy’s impression of Stacy?
The cool cat who could always lighten up a workout, make people laugh, & somehow make hard swimming feel a little more fun.
They had very different personalities, but somehow, it worked.
Neither could have known 10 years ago that one day Amy would ask Stacy to become her first assistant coach at FLYT Performance.
And today, those differences are exactly what make them such a great coaching team.
Amy brings the business mindset, strategy, structure, and attention to detail.
Stacy brings community, connection, energy, and an incredible ability to bring people together.
Together, they bring decades of endurance experience to FLYT Performance.
Amy: 30+years in endurance sports.
Stacy: 30+ years in endurance sports.
That’s 60+ years of combined endurance experience, with a relationship that started in a swim lane & evolving to something much more.
From the confident bald guy in the lane…
To the coach who became family.
And yes, Stacy still has his little sister.
Some relationships are just meant to happen.

Congratulations to Megan Stockner, who competed in the Pennsylvania State Aquabike Championship at Moraine State Park this past weekend!
Megan started the season with personalized one-on-one coaching, then decided she wanted more freedom to manage her own relaxed fitness regiment while staying connected with Coach Amy for guidance and support.
That’s exactly why we created our FLYT Lite service!
Not every athlete needs the same level of coaching. Whether you want fully personalized programming and one-on-one coaching or prefer to train independently with a coach in your corner, we have an option for you.
Megan found the right balance for her and finished the season strong!
Congratulations, Megan! We’re so proud of you! Time for some R&R and TLC time away from sport.

FLYT was in the city of Rock’n Roll this AM cheering on all the Triathlon, Duathlon, & Aquabike racing in Cleveland athletes!
Congrats to Coach Stacy’s athlete Jon Buonamici for a solid OLY! Jon is preparing for IM Michigan 70.3 in September.
Coach Amy and Stacy worked with TriCle this year as coach resources. Amy delivered a nutrition and fueling talk while Stacy talked about all things swimming to athletes. What a great organization and we hope all the athletes had an amazing day!
