In 1982, Dolly took the stage at the Indiana State Fair, bringing her unmistakable voice, warmth and sparkle to Hoosiers. We’re grateful to have this moment preserved in our Fair’s history and to have been one small stop in an extraordinary career.

Thank you for the music, the memories and a legacy that will live on for generations. ❤️

The State Fair has wrapped up, but we are still telling the history of the coliseum! The first pro hockey team to call the Coliseum home was the AHL’s Indianapolis Capitalswhich was an affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. They brought Calder Cup titles to Indy in 1942 and 1950!

Dawgs Hockey is back for the 2026-2027 season. All home games will be played at the Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, where all Butler students get in FREE with their Student ID. Tickets for standard admission can be purchased at the door.

More history Coliseum history! Before Market Square Arena or Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Indiana Pacers called the Coliseum home (1967–1974). Coached by Bobby "Slick" Leonard, they won 3 ABA Championships right on 38th Street!

Before Gainbridge Fieldhouse or Market Square Arena existed, the Coliseum was the epicenter of professional sports in Indiana. It hosted the Indiana Pacers during their legendary American Basketball Association (ABA) era from 1967 to 1974, where coach Bobby "Slick" Leonard led the team to three ABA Championships (1970, 1972, 1973). On the ice, the Coliseum is the historic home of Indianapolis hockey. Eight of the city’s nine professional and junior hockey championship teams raised their banners under this roof, spanning legendary minor league franchises like the AHL Indianapolis Capitals, IHL Indianapolis Ice, and ECHL Indy Fuel.
