For many of us, Independence Day reminds us of fireworks, cookouts, and time with family. But in my work as a divorce transition coach, the word has taken on a different meaning.
Many of the women I work with begin their journey feeling like they’re standing in the middle of a storm. They wonder how they’ll navigate the finances, co-parenting, difficult decisions, or a future they can’t yet imagine.
The truth is, no one becomes independent overnight.
Real independence isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about slowly rebuilding trust in yourself.
It’s learning to make decisions from a place of clarity instead of fear.
It’s discovering that your voice matters.
It’s creating a life that reflects your values instead of simply reacting to your circumstances.
And ironically, one of the greatest lessons I witness is this:
The strongest women I know don’t build independence alone.
They lean on trusted friends, family, therapists, attorneys, financial professionals, and coaches until they find their footing again.
Years ago, I couldn’t have pictured what life would look like on the other side. Today, I don’t take moments like this for granted. New traditions. Belly laughs. Time at the lake. Watching my kids simply be kids.
Freedom looks different than I once imagined.
And for that, I’m incredibly grateful.
Wishing you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July. ❤️🤍💙

If we’ve never met, I’m Leah—and here’s something most people don’t know about me.
I never wanted to become a divorce coach.
In fact, this path chose me.
After years as a physical therapist, I enrolled in a coaching certification program fully expecting to build a business in health and wellness.
But then something unexpected happened.
Women started finding me. Some were friends. Others came through referrals. They weren’t looking for fitness advice—they were looking for someone to help them navigate divorce.
If I’m honest, I resisted it.
“Divorce coach” wasn’t a title I was ready to embrace. I hadn't yet fully excepted "divorced" as part of my new identity. It certainly wasn’t something I ever imagined printing next to my name on a business card.
But I kept saying yes to the women who needed support.
One conversation became another. One client became ten. Then dozens.
Years later, I can say this without hesitation:
I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I get a front-row seat to some of the hardest seasons of my clients’ lives—and an even better seat as they begin to heal, rebuild, and discover they are stronger than they ever imagined.
And yes… I still get to be a cheerleader.
Only now, instead of cheering from the sidelines for the Indianapolis Colts, I get to cheer for incredible women as they reclaim their footing and create what’s next.
I wouldn’t trade that for anything. 💗

One of the first things I encourage clients to do before—and during—divorce is build a support network.
No one person can meet every need during a life transition.
Your attorney protects your legal interests.
Your therapist helps you process emotions and past trauma.
Your financial advisor helps you plan for your future.
Trusted family and friends remind you who you are when you’ve forgotten.
And a divorce coach helps you organize the chaos, think clearly, and move forward with intention.
The strongest support systems aren’t built on one person doing everything—they’re built on the right people doing what they do best.
You don’t have to carry this alone.
Who has been part of your support network during a difficult season of life? 💗
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make during divorce?
Making permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.
Divorce is emotional. It changes everything. But the decisions you make during this season can shape your life for years to come.
Before you make your next move:
✨ Pause.
✨ Get grounded.
✨ Lean on people who can help you think clearly—not just react emotionally.
You don’t have to have all the answers today. You just need enough support to take the next right step.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the decisions in front of you, know this: you don’t have to navigate them alone. My role is to help you regain your footing so you can reclaim your future.
What decision has felt the heaviest for you during a major life transition?

One of the biggest myths about difficult conversations with our children is that we need to have all the answers.
We don’t.
A few tools that can help:
✨ Mirror their concern.
“It sounds like you’re worried things are going to change.”
✨ Respond with curiosity.
“What makes you wonder that?”
✨ Give yourself time.
“That’s an important question. Let me think about it and come back to you.”
✨ Get comfortable saying, “I don’t know.”
“I don’t know the answer yet, but we’ll figure it out together.”
Children don’t need perfect answers.
They need a safe place to ask hard questions.
The goal isn’t to have the perfect conversation. The goal is to keep the conversation going. ❤️

⚖️ “Do I need a divorce coach if I already have an attorney?”
It’s a question I hear often.
The short answer? A divorce coach and an attorney do very different jobs—and they work best together.
Your attorney is there to provide legal advice, protect your rights, negotiate settlements, and guide you through the legal process.
A divorce coach helps you navigate everything else:
✔️ Organizing documents and information
✔️ Preparing for attorney meetings
✔️ Managing overwhelm and decision fatigue
✔️ Helping clients create systems that support successful co-parenting
✔️ Building a plan for life during and after divorce
✔️ Staying focused on your long-term goals instead of reacting from emotion
Think of it this way:
Your attorney helps you make sound legal decisions.
Your divorce coach helps you become the person who can make those decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
The best divorce outcomes often happen when clients have the right support team around them.
You don’t have to carry the legal, logistical, and emotional weight of divorce alone.
Have questions about how divorce coaching fits into the process? Send me a message. I’d be happy to help.

One of the most common things I hear from clients is:
“I don’t even know who I am anymore.”
Years of marriage, parenting, compromise, caregiving, and simply surviving can make it difficult to hear your own voice.
And then divorce happens.
Suddenly, you’re faced with questions that feel both exciting and terrifying:
What do I want?
What matters most to me?
What do I want this next chapter to look like?
The truth is, finding yourself again isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about reconnecting with the person who was there all along.
It’s remembering what lights you up.
Rediscovering your strengths.
Clarifying your values.
Learning to trust yourself again.
And slowly creating a life that reflects who you are today—not who you used to be, or who someone else expected you to be.
This process doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens one choice, one boundary, one new experience, and one brave step at a time.
❤️ You don’t have to have your entire future figured out.
Just focus on getting reacquainted with yourself.
What’s one thing you’ve rediscovered about yourself during a season of change?
