After last weekend’s rainout, we’re excited to bring Ballet in the Park back to Riverside Regional Park on Saturday, August 22! The location and event schedule remain the same, with a few changes to our food vendor lineup.

🌧️ BALLET IN THE PARK RESCHEDULED

Due to ongoing weather conditions and flooding, Ballet in the Park has been postponed to Saturday, August 22.

For the safety of our dancers, crew, and attendees, we are working alongside Indy Parks to ensure the surrounding roads and grounds are safe for the public.

The event schedule and format will remain the same, and all existing ticket reservations are valid for the new date.

✨ Welcome Jaclyn Virgin! ✨

We're excited to welcome Jaclyn Virgin Oomkes to the Indianapolis School of Ballet faculty as part of our Professional Trainee Program.

An Indianapolis native, Jaclyn earned her BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University before performing with Dance Kaleidoscope. Over the past two decades, she has built an impressive career as a teacher, choreographer, and arts leader, sharing her expertise in ballet, modern, and jazz with dancers of all ages.

Jaclyn currently serves as Adjunct Dance Faculty at Butler University and has taught and choreographed for numerous organizations throughout Central Indiana. Her passion for dance education, artistry, and mentorship makes her a wonderful addition to our faculty.

✨ Welcome Sean Aaron Carmon! ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Sean Aaron Carmon as guest faculty for Indianapolis School of Ballet’s Professional Trainee Program!

Sean currently serves as Rehearsal Director and Choreographer for Dance Kaleidoscope, bringing a wealth of professional performance, choreography, and teaching experience to our trainees. Throughout the season, he’ll share his expertise in Horton-based modern, jazz, and contemporary dance.

A celebrated choreographer and former member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Sean performed major solo and leading roles with the company and on Broadway and North American tours, including The Lion King, Kinky Boots, Ragtime, La Cage aux Folles, and The Phantom of the Opera. He has also choreographed for Indianapolis Ballet and Summer Stock Stage Indy.

Beyond his work as a performer and choreographer, Sean is passionate about educating the next generation of dancers and sharing his knowledge of Horton-based modern technique and beyond.

We’re so excited for our trainees to learn from Sean’s experience, artistry, and passion throughout the season!

✨ Welcome Iris Rosa! ✨

We're honored to welcome Iris Rosa to the Indianapolis School of Ballet faculty as part of our Professional Trainee Program.

A Professor Emerita and founding director of the African American Dance Company at Indiana University, Iris brings decades of experience as an educator, choreographer, and artist. Her work bridges contemporary modern dance with African diaspora dance traditions, drawing from extensive research and teaching throughout Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and the Americas.

As Artistic Director of Seda Negra/Black Silk Dance Company and founder of the Iris Rosa Dance Studio, Iris's choreography explores themes of immigration, identity, and the lived experiences of people throughout the African diaspora.

We are excited for our trainees to learn from her extraordinary artistry, knowledge, and global perspective.
