Happy International Women’s Day to the fierce ladies I currently get to coach 💪🏼🫶🏼😍 One of the reasons I continue to compete and to push myself is to keep advocating and supporting women in sport- through all walks and phases of life. I wish for you to find progress over perfection. I hope you know that you’re more than a number or a pace- you’re worthy JUST because you are you 🩷. I believe that we can all learn through sport that failure isn’t an end- but rather a beginning to finding another level. And together, we rise stronger and better than we could have been alone. We can be both fierce competitors and friends. I’m so grateful I’ve had the privilege of having female coaches, mentors, teammates, and friends who made a lasting impact on my life and my heart 💜 Here’s to spreading that along in the world.

I had some texts from one of my athletes this morning about kids being home with ice and possibly shortening a workout because they wouldn’t last through the 90 minutes. As parents we’ve all been there. And even if it’s not kids, chances are good you’ve had interruptions that have pulled you in several different directions while you’re trying to workout.
One of the things I’ve noticed with myself and also with athletes I’ve coached is that so often we want to give ourselves an out before we begin - so it’s not a failure or missed mark. I’ve started coaching these interruptions differently and I’ve started to shift my perspective as an athlete as well. Instead of shortening the workout, I said- let’s just start and see how far they let you get. Let’s try for the 90 and if it doesn’t happen, we can figure it out.
Well this genius mom got her kids excited about a movie and then had them take a TV break with the promise if she got her whole bike done with no interruptions, the movie excitement would continue after the bike. Mission accomplished- she got her bike and her kids played and were rewarded with the rest of the movie.
Sometimes it’s all about just starting and seeing what we get … and sometimes we might need some creativity and mom skills to make that happen. I’m proud of this athletes growth, not only as an athlete, but in her mental resilience that she continues to develop.
Sometimes it’s just about getting started and seeing what happens. 💪🏼🙌🏼

Another great weekend with CXP cycles and this group of fabulous instructors from Pickens Easley YMCA in SC made it even better. They brought the energy as we talked about and and some ideas on how to maximize their own teaching styles using the amazing consoles on our bikes. It was a pleasure to spend the day with you today and learn together- I can’t wait to watch you

Failure is really the opportunity for growth, for improvement. The only way you truly fail, is to quit. Keep getting back up. Keep going.
