Salem Rowing is in Alaska! Some of our crew traveled to Seward this weekend to catch up with Lydia, who spent the summer coaching for the Kenai Crewsers, and to take part in the Tail of the Bear Regatta. TOTB is a 5k head race around Bear Lake.

Congrats to our crew for taking 1st in the women's 4+, and 1st in women's 2x!! 🥇🥇 The beautiful medals are handmade ceramic, made by the regatta director! 💙

Yall, make sure next Saturday (not tomorrow) you come out and give some support to the farmers market, now that the park is back open. It's been a rough week, let's take care of eachother.

We have some wonderful news to share with our market community… Riverview Park has reopened!

After the unexpected closure and the uncertainty it brought to our vendors and community, we are incredibly grateful to be able to continue the Independence Riverview Saturday Market at Riverview Park for the remainder of our season. 🥰

That said, because we received this news so last-minute, we will NOT be reopening tomorrow. We want to make sure our vendors have enough time to prepare, and we simply don’t feel it would be fair to ask everyone to scramble with such little notice.

But don’t worry, we’ll be back the following Saturday!

Our vendors have been incredibly patient and supportive through all of this, and we cannot thank them or our amazing community enough.

We know how much this market means to our vendors, families, and small businesses, and we are so excited to finish out the season together.

Next Saturday, we’re bringing back one of our favorite days, Kids Market! 💛

We want to remind everyone that ALL kids are welcome to participate! There is NO COST to set up a booth. Whether they want to sell crafts, artwork, homemade goodies, bracelets, toys, plants, or anything else they’ve created, we’d love to have them!

No application. No booth fee. Just bring your little entrepreneur, their goodies, and a table or setup if they have one!

Thank you for sticking with us, supporting local, and continuing to show up for our little market. We’ll see you soon!

Another great race at Greenlake this weekend! The wind was up, and the course was a shortened 500 meters. But we were happy to still be able to race (especially after the Rowfest fiasco). NO settle, just sprint. 🔥

Our novices are on fire this year and for two of them, this was their first medal! 💙

Natalie and Jen went to Rowfest in Ypsilani, Michigan last week, and here is that tale...

We arrived on Wednesay morning, stopped by Fluidesign to check out our rental boat. It was amazing as expected. Got to sit in it, adjust our rigging, and just after that USRowing cancelled practices for the day. Too hot, too humid. In all fairness, my face *was* melting clean off my skull. We never got to row this 2x. The race we had been practicing for for months. 😥

Thursday, we were supposed to race a composite 8+ and our 2x. Wildfire smoke was bad and all races were cancelled, to be rescheduled after the races on Fri, Sat, and Sun. AQI over 500. We bought an air purifier for the rental house. Went to the Detroit Institute of Arts 🎨 which was amazing!

Friday, same. Thursday's races permanently cancelled. Friday's races to be rescheduled for after Sat and Sun. Went to the Henry Ford museum, which was also so so cool.

Saturday, smoke had cleared some. Jen coxed for the Womens 4+ for Lake Oswego in the AM heats and by the time we lined up for finals, the wind was crazy and the lake was whitecaps! Natalie was scheduled to row a 4x with fellow Purdue alums as well. So as we were all lining up, they canceled races for the day and sent us back in.

Sunday was perfect conditions. 👌
We changed our D 8+ to an A 8+ and rowed against the youngins. 😆 Purdue alums got to race their 4x. And while we didn't place, it felt so good for finally ROW! 🙌

It was a week for making connections, and hanging out with friends old and new. Lake house 2026, you all rock!

Thanks to San Diego Rowing Club for the boat rental and oars, even though we didn't get to use them. Thanks to Austin Rowing Club Lincoln Park Boat Club DetroitRowing for helping coordinate boats with the ever-changing schedule. You all are the best of the best. 💙

Let's row together again some time! Just not in Michigan. 😉

Day two of Cascadia Masters Championships wrapped yesterday and our crew are headed home today - with MORE medals!

Congrats to Avery and Lauren for their bronze medal finish in the Women's Novice 2x A-AA. And to the entire crew for their fourth place finish in the Novice mixed 4x!

We sent these novices to Cascadia all on their own, and for most of them, this was their first regatta. And they killed it! And had fun doing it 💙

Congrats to Hope and Austin for their silver medal finish in the mixed novice A 2x, and to Lauren for her bronze medal finish in the women's novice B 1x!

Kim and Phil both rowed for in 1990 - and soon they'll be rowing a 2x together on their old home waters of Dexter Reservoir at 36 years after they raced there as Ducks. We're here for alllll the nostalgia!
