This is the custom cake In The Fridge Bakery designed for our party last Saturday. I wanted to share a picture for those who weren't able to attend our party. It was more beautiful in person. Gary Drysdale (Japton Fire Department Board President) cut the cake for everyone to enjoy.

The Japton Community Park Board would like to thank everyone who came out yesterday to celebrate our big day. The Boulder Creek Band put on a great show. We appreciate them coming to help us celebrate our big day. Jay Moffett with Today's Bank for coming and cooking for our community. The Survior Flight Crew coming to show their beautiful helicopter to the community. We would like to Thank everyone single company and person that donated to the door/ raffle prizes.

We want everyone who ate and enjoyed our Birthday cake and the cupcakes. The In the Fridge Bakery custom made them for us. She has a page where you can contact her directly. I want to personally Thank my fellow Paws and Claws Board Member Abby Barnett who made two fresh pies yesterday for door prizes. She got up extra early to make sure they were fresh as possible. And drove them over from Kingston to the park. She custom bakes for the Paws and Claws Shelter everytime she sell out.

To every single community member who came out and celebrated with us. We were so glad you came even though the weather kept trying to rain on us. We unfortunately wasn't sure if it was going to pour on us. So we rushed a few things we hadn't planned to. I really wanted to have had time to have every single Board member to have been recognized that was there. The board members and fire fighters are your friends and neighbors. Hopefully even if they weren't able to be recognized the community got to visit with them and got to know anyone that they hadn't met yet. I am glad to be able to say our 40th birthday Japton Volunteer Fire Department and The Japton Community Park's 45th Birthday was special because you showed up for us. Hopefully in five years when the Park turns fifty and the Fire Department turns forty-five we can have a bigger better celebration.

*Thank you everyone who purchased a raffle ticket for the hog/freezer or the Henry. We are down to sixteen tickets to sell on the Henry then we will draw for it. As soon as those last sixteen tickets sell. We will plan for our annual catfish fry and draw for the winner. A big congratulations to Elmer Samuels the winner of the hog/freezer.*

This Saturday is the big day! Come out eat, visit win some door prizes, listen to the music everything is free except Henry and freezer/hog raffle tickets. See who the grand prize winner is for the hog and freezer the Japton Volunteer Fire Department is drawing for. If you get there before drawing I believe you can still purchase a raffle tickets on it. Remember the hog and freezer are $10 cash we have no way to process payments at the park. We are almost at our 500 limit of raffle tickets on the Henry. I will get our count of what we left before Saturday. I believe we have 50 or less left to purchase. Henry tickets are $5 each.

*Long Post.* Last week as a long week for me. I was at the fair grounds five out of seven days. I wanted to let our community know that almost everyday I was there. Robert Samuels and or one member or more of his family was out there with me in the heat. Selling raffle tickets for the Henry and the fire department hog/freezer. The only two days Robert wasn't there he was at Fire Department training or work. He showed his commitment to our park growing and our community as a whole. He didn't find an excuse not show up. In the week we were there we moved alot of tickets.

While there I met some of Bohannon Fire Department great support from their members. They purchased tickets from us. Robert and I purchased tickets on their Pistol. Clifty Fire Department was there to. I think they might have had their whole board there. They I believe are raffling off a 12 gage maybe? And some kind of fancy lawn chairs. I bought a fair amount of tickets from them. I spent the same amount at each booth.

Bohannon was our neighbors at the fair. We has lots of time to visit. They were helpful as could be. As this was Japton's first year at the fair. Bohannon pointed out as departments we need to support each other. We are all small community departments. It was a good feeling knowing that all the departments compete basically for the same grants. The board members and fire fighters that showed up support each other is what makes a difference. I know for a fact Huntsville Fire Department members bought raffle tickets from me. Clifty and Bohannon both came and purchase one or both raffle tickets. The Huntsville Police Officers on duty showed up bought Henry tickets. Also found out some of our local Japton community soccer league are our from the local p.d. The players that come to the park are witnessing first hand our changes and growth. The support was amazing from the surrounding communities.

I want to mention one of fellow board members Jackie Holland 's son Rob and his wife Tracy. They went to the Saturday ATV rodeo and seen how hot it was out at the fair grounds. They showed up our first night at the fair with a large fan to keep us cool as possible. We used it all week it was a blessing. Not only did they keep the Japton booth cool. It was big enough to help keep Bohannon cooler to. Frankly not sure if I will be back at the fair next year. It was a hot long week for Robert and his family, Mike and me. It really depends if the Park is fundraising for anything that we would be selling tickets for. I can say I plan on attending future events at Bohannon and Clifty Fire Department's. We usually go to Clifty's fish fry if we can every year. In closing Thank You to everyone who dropped by bought tickets and visited with us. Every ticket at every event we have sold. Is one more step closer to more things being upgraded and added to the park.
