Huntley Park District’s Haunted Trails: Legends of Horror is looking for volunteers to bring some of horror’s most legendary characters to life! 🩸🪦

🗓️ Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ Volunteer commitment: approximately 5:30–10:30p
🎭 Scare Actors must be 14+
🕵️ Adult volunteers (18+) must complete a background check
📍 Huntley Park District REC Center
📋 Mandatory Volunteer Meeting: Monday, October 5 | 6:00–7:00p

Scare Actors will wear masks and costumes, and after completing the inquiry form, we’ll reach out to learn which legendary horror characters might be the perfect fit for you. A second meeting may also be required, so volunteers should be prepared for up to 3 days of involvement.

Join our friends at Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department as we come together for the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Join us as the Huntley community comes together to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and honor the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the first responders who answered the call.

The remembrance ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at Huntley Town Square and will include remarks from community leaders, traditional observances, and a moment of silence honoring those lost on September 11, 2001.

We invite our community to join us as we remember and honor those we lost 25 years ago.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to Huntley Fire Protection District Station 1, 11118 Main Street.

🏆 SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! 🏆

That’s a wrap on another great season of adult summer sports! From big shots on the basketball court to clutch plays on the softball diamond, our leagues brought plenty of competition, camaraderie, and fun all summer long. ☀️🏀🥎

🎉 Ol’ Timers Park is OPEN! 🎉

After several months of renovations, we’re excited to welcome the community back to Ol’ Timers Park!

While you may still see a few signs of finishing touches such as ground restoration still occuring, the park is open and ready to enjoy!

✅ Now open and accessible:
• Updated playground
• NEW bag toss game — bring your bags!
• NEW fitness stations along the walking trail
• NEW reconfigured trail on the east side, including a new bridge over the creek
• NEW backstop and dugouts, plus an enlarged baseball field

🚧 A few areas are still getting their finishing touches:

• The NEW wiffle ball field has been seeded and needs a few more weeks for the grass to become established. Please stay off the field until it is ready for play.

• Ground restoration is continuing. Please be mindful of posted signs and any temporarily restricted areas.

• The new prairie and wetland natural area southwest of the park is still a work in progress. Prairie plantings around this area are in and growing. Frequent rain over the past two months has delayed planting, so for now it may look a little more like a detention area than a wetland/natural area! As water levels recede, wetland plantings will be installed this fall.

🌳 So come on back and enjoy Ol’ Timers Park! We appreciate everyone’s patience during construction and cooperation as we complete these final pieces.

We’re excited to see families, walkers, ball players and neighbors enjoying the park again!

Sport Courts Project Update 🎾🏀

The Sport Courts Project is making great progress!

Here’s what’s happening next:
🏗️ Paving at the Deicke Park outdoor pickleball courts is now complete.
🔲 Fencing begins this week.
🎨 Final coating and striping are scheduled for late September.
📅 We anticipate the courts opening in early October, shortly after Fall Fest!

The two tennis courts and basketball court at Coach’s Park are also progressing well. They’re currently a few weeks behind the Deicke Park outdoor pickleball courts, but work is moving forward.

We’re getting closer to putting these new courts into action, and we can’t wait for the community to enjoy them! Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the finish line.
