Bigger Than Basketball.

This past Labor Day weekend, our Huntington High Boys Basketball team had the opportunity to get away for our annual preseason camping trip.

We spent the weekend camping along the Meadow River in Nallen, WV. Saturday, we spent the day at ACE Adventure Waterpark. Sunday, we hit the trails for a hike, found a waterfall, and spent some time swimming before finishing the weekend with a feast at the original Pies & Pints in Fayetteville.

But as much fun as we had, this trip was about so much more than where we went or what we did.

It was about getting these guys away from basketball, school, phones, and the normal distractions of everyday life and giving them an opportunity to genuinely spend time together. We sat around the fire, laughed, talked, challenged ourselves, learned more about one another, and continued building the relationships that make a team a family.

Basketball season will eventually come and go. Wins and losses will fade. But the friendships, lessons, stories, and memories these young men create together can last a lifetime.

We came home a little tired, probably a little sore, but definitely closer than when we left.

Another preseason camping trip in the books and memories that will last a lifetime.

This is bigger than basketball.
