🌟 HGSL Board Member Spotlight: Sam Lopez 🌟

Today we’re proud to recognize one of the dedicated volunteers who helps keep Humble Girls Softball League running behind the scenes—Sam Lopez!

As our Equipment Manager and 18U Coach, Sam wears many hats, and he does it all with a servant’s heart. From making sure every team has the equipment they need to stepping onto the field to mentor and develop our oldest athletes, Sam is always willing to do whatever it takes to help our league succeed.

The work of an Equipment Manager often goes unnoticed, but it’s one of the most important roles in the league. Countless hours are spent organizing, repairing, distributing, collecting, and maintaining equipment so our players can focus on what they love—playing softball. On top of that, Sam invests his time coaching our 18U athletes, helping prepare them not only for success on the field but for life beyond the game.

Volunteers like Sam are the backbone of HGSL. His reliability, positive attitude, and commitment to our players make a lasting impact on every season.

Happy Birthday to Our Longest-Serving Board Member, Hector Balboa! 🎉🥎

Today we have the privilege of celebrating not only one of the most dedicated volunteers in Humble Girls Softball League history, but also wishing him a very Happy Birthday!

For decades, Hector Balboa has been the definition of selfless service. As our longest-serving board member, Hector has devoted countless hours to ensuring that every girl who steps onto our fields has the opportunity to learn, grow, compete, and create lifelong memories through the game of softball.

Hector currently serves as our Vice President, Co-Treasurer, Field Maintenance Coordinator, and Tournament Team Liaison. But his impact goes far beyond the titles he holds today. Over the years, Hector has filled nearly every board position imaginable, always stepping up wherever he was needed without hesitation.

Whether he’s preparing fields before the sun comes up, spending weekends at the ballpark, working behind the scenes to keep the league running smoothly, helping tournament teams, or mentoring new board members, Hector does it all with one goal in mind—making HGSL the very best it can be for our players and families.

His passion for softball is matched only by his adoration for the young ladies who play the game. Generation after generation of players have benefited from his leadership, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to our league. His willingness to serve, his sense of humor, and his tireless work ethic have helped shape HGSL into the strong community it is today.

Volunteers like Hector are the heart of youth sports. They don’t do it for recognition—they do it because they genuinely care. But today, we want to make sure he knows just how much he is appreciated.

🌟 HGSL Board Member Spotlight – Roy Dueitt 🌟

Every successful organization has someone behind the scenes who quietly puts in the work, makes the tough decisions, and always keeps the mission at the center of everything they do. For Humble Girls Softball League, that person is our Board President, Roy Dueitt.

Roy is the second longest-standing board member in HGSL history, and his years of dedication have helped shape our league into what it is today. His commitment to our players, coaches, and families is unmatched. Whether he’s solving problems, planning for the future, or standing up for what’s best for our girls, Roy leads with integrity, fairness, and heart.

Being Board President isn’t always easy. It often means making difficult decisions, spending countless hours behind the scenes, and carrying responsibilities that many never see. Through it all, Roy has remained steadfast in his commitment to doing what’s right for the league and ensuring every girl has the opportunity to play, grow, and succeed.

Roy, thank you for your tireless leadership, your unwavering dedication, and your passion for HGSL. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and our league is stronger because of you.

💛 HGSL Board Member Spotlight: Veronica Balboa 💛

Behind every successful league are volunteers who quietly give countless hours to make sure every girl has the opportunity to succeed. Today, we are proud to recognize one of the true driving forces behind Humble Girls Softball League.

Veronica Balboa wears more hats than just about anyone in our organization. As our Secretary, Uniform Liaison, Concession Stand Manager, and Special Events Coordinator, she is the backbone of so much that happens at HGSL. From keeping our board organized, coordinating uniforms for every player, managing one of the busiest areas of the park, and creating memorable events for our families, Veronica gives her all in everything she does.

There isn’t another board member who puts in more hours or works harder than Veronica. She is often the first to arrive and one of the last to leave, always working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. She tackles every task without complaint, never seeks recognition, and does it all because she genuinely wants every girl in our league to have the best experience possible.

Many people only see the games on the field, but they don’t always see the countless hours of planning, organizing, problem-solving, and hard work that happen behind the scenes. Veronica is one of the biggest reasons HGSL continues to thrive, and her dedication, passion, and selfless service make a difference in the lives of our players and families every single season.
