A busy stretch for Hubbard Volleyball featured some big wins, milestones and one of the toughest battles of the season.
🏐 vs. Poland
Varsity swept Poland, 25-9, 25-16, 25-16, to improve to 6-1.
Layla Songer led the attack with 10 kills, while Morgan Thompson added 7 kills and 2 solo blocks. Emma Tetrick recorded 4 aces, and Kayla Offie led the service game with 17 serves. Lylah Taylor kept the offense moving with 65 attack sets.
JV fell in two sets, 15-25, 15-25, as the young Eagles continued working to find consistency and build momentum.
🏐 at Girard
Both teams came home with wins!
JV rallied after dropping the opening set to earn a 15-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory. Gia Caesar and Kaylee Hussing stepped in to help a changing lineup as the Eagles earned their third win of the season.
Varsity followed with a 25-18, 25-9, 22-25, 25-16 victory.
Tetrick led the service game with 28 serves and 3 aces, while Serena Martinez added 4 aces. Songer hammered down 15 kills, Thompson added 11 and Kayla Offie finished with 10.
Taylor directed the offense with 40 assists, while Tetrick led the back row with 27 serve-receive passes and 16 digs.
Tetrick also surpassed 500 career serve receptions, finishing the night at 540!
🏐 vs. South Range
JV picked up perhaps its biggest win of the season, rallying from a first-set loss to defeat South Range, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21!
Kaylee Hussing, Allison Alexander and Tori Alexander helped run the offense, while Ainsley Evans led the attack. Gemma Williams, Hadley Button and Avery Baxter provided strong play on the outside, with Larin Vargo and Elle English holding down the middle. The back row also turned in its strongest passing performance of the season.
Varsity came within two points of handing South Range its first loss, falling in a five-set thriller, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 13-15.
Songer turned in a huge night with 20 kills and 28 digs. Martinez and Thompson each added 11 kills, while Tetrick recorded 27 digs. Thompson led the blocking effort with 2 solo and 3 assisted blocks.
Taylor handled the setting duties throughout the five-set battle, finishing with 134 ball-handling attempts and 40 assists.
A tough ending, but an outstanding effort against one of the top teams on the schedule.
