Thanks to our board secretary, Amy Smith, we have a new route which avoids the chipseal on Business 290 and the potholes and tracks on Old Washington.

Zube 48 Mile Wyatt Chapel Route Long Route by passing Business 290 via Wyatt Chapel Road and returning via Kermier Road - 48.4 mi, +618 ft. Bike ride in Harris County, TX

Zube and HCC riders, please take note.

As of 7/1/2026, Business 290 (Old 290/Hempstead Road) has been under construction from Badke Road to Hempstead, which is roughly 14 miles. Riders from Zube and HCC using Business 290 will experience extremely rough road conditions (akin to fresh chipseal), unmarked lanes and likely lane closures, making the road unsafe.

At least for this Saturday's ride, July 4th, please join us for NWCC's VP Ride.

As for subsequent Wednesdays and Saturdays, we have been reaching out to local transportation officials to find out more information about the duration of the Business 290 (Old 290/Hempstead Road) repaving project and hope to provide more information soon.
