Here’s a tip or to help you get those plates separated.

You can use fraction plates (I.e. 2.5) to separate them when stacking your sled.

The only drawback is, you are adding more weight to your sled. Which is fine, unless you’re particular about your numbers. Or, you have enough room to stack on the stem.

My preference is straps (tow strap).

I use old tow straps and cut them to about 24/30 inches. That way you have enough slack for your hands to grip the sides and lift. They don’t add weight or take up space on the stem. And you can take them off with ease.
