Today's Ride

Well, just because we knew this day was coming doesn’t make it sting any less. Yesterday was Artie’s last day at the shop before she heads off to Harvard to begin her post-grad courses. Artie showed up a year ago, having freshly graduated from , where she was working at as their lead mechanic. Despite her friends reservations about her joining a team of crusty old male degenerates, she quickly settled in and put her nose to the grindstone and earned the respect of her fellow mechanics. We’re all very proud of her and her scholastic accomplishments, but we’re even more impressed that she came into our fast paced, testosterone fueled environment and unequivocally earned her stripes. Speaking of earning her stripes, she also earned our highest honor- a set of personalized HFX-1 wrenches that we hope she’ll cherish for the rest of her life. Artie- you’ll always be part of the Blue Line family, and we know that you’re going to go on and do great things. Congratulations on your acceptance to , and don’t forget us little people when you reach the stars!

Who just rolled out with a sick new Surly Krampus? Randy did, that’s who! He’s already dreaming of the days when work will be far behind, leaving nothing in front of him but open fire roads to explore for as far as the eyes can see. Randy!

I don’t know about y’all, but if I have to choose between pedding or dying, I’m going with pedding every single time.

There’ve been a few things over the last year or so that we haven’t done a good enough job on stocking, like shorts, cycling socks, and shoes. We’re aware of our deficiencies, and making moves to plug the holes in our inventory with restocks from some really great soft goods companies like and Sockguy. We just put about a $1000 dollars worth of socks back onto the hooks, and we have a refresh of Pearl Izumi bottoms making its way through the domestic freight infrastructure on its way to our doorstep even as I type this. We’ve also moved most of our existing cycling shoe inventory to our 1/2 price sale table and started to restock our and shoes. There’s quite a few pairs on the sale table, especially in ladies sizes. If you’ve stopped by to get something nice to wear on your next group ride and left empty handed, we’d like to apologize for not having the best selection, and really hope that you give us a shot the next time that you’re in the market for some stretchy clothing!
