At the Lone Star Select Shooting Team, we want to take a moment to share what our program is really about and what we stand for.

LSSST is built on the belief that shooting sports should be accessible—both financially and developmentally—and growth-focused for youth at every level. Our team includes athletes ranging from brand new shooters with no prior experience all the way through NSCA Master Class competitors. Every athlete has a place here, and every athlete is supported where they are in their journey.

We are proud to have a coaching staff of more than 16 active, certified coaches, with more available when schedules permit throughout the year. This brings a wide range of experience, teaching styles, and competitive backgrounds to our program, allowing our athletes to learn in different ways, adapt to different approaches, and become more well-rounded, confident shooters under a variety of conditions.

We also proudly support athletes who compete in other programs outside of Lone Star, such as SCTP, 4H and FFA. We believe youth shooting sports should complement one another—not compete with each other—and we encourage our athletes to stay involved wherever they are able to grow and gain experience.

Beyond the course, we place a strong emphasis on developing character, leadership, responsibility, and sportsmanship. Our goal is not only to build better shooters, but to help develop confident, disciplined young people who carry those skills into every part of their lives.

We are proud of the culture being built within this team and the athletes who represent it.

Created by Cory & Catherine Kruse, we’ve found it to be a valuable resource that brings a modern, on-demand approach to training. It offers high-quality instructional content and coaching support that athletes can access anytime, anywhere—helping them build skills, sharpen fundamentals, and continue improving between practices and competitions.

As our team continues to grow, tools like this help reinforce what we teach on the range and give our athletes another way to stay focused, consistent, and prepared.

Throwback to LSSST Summer Camp 2025!

In just over a month, we'll be loading up the bus and heading back to Covey Rise Lodge for one of the highlights of the year!

For four days and three nights, our athletes and coaches will unplug from their daily routines and enjoy an unforgettable experience filled with target practice, swimming, fishing, team-building, laughter, friendly competitions, and memories they'll carry with them long after camp is over. It's where new friendships are made, old friendships grow stronger, and our team truly comes together as one family.

There will definitely be plenty of laughs, a little harmless mischief, and countless unforgettable moments. But Summer Camp is about so much more than having fun. It's where confidence is built, leadership is developed, and the relationships between our athletes and coaches grow stronger. Those experiences are a big part of what makes the Lone Star Select Shooting Team more than just a team.

The countdown is officially on, and we can't wait to see what Summer Camp 2026 has in store!

You never know where you'll run into your teammates!

Kimber Nicholas, Clay Nash, Collin Laing and Cole Weston (and their four-legged best friends!) just happened to cross paths while vacationing with their families at Splashway this past weekend. What are the odds?

One of the best parts of being on our team is that we're more than just teammates—we're a family. Whether we're on the range or making summer memories, those friendships don't end when practice is over.

To most people, this is just a photo of a kid in a shooting stand.

To us, it's a photo of commitment. Of early mornings, long drives, missed weekends, determination, and countless hours spent chasing improvement.

Last Friday, more than 50 teams gathered at Greater Houston Sports Club for our 6th Annual Lonestar Shootout, and our hearts are still full.

The Texas heat was relentless, but it couldn't outshine the incredible generosity, support, and spirit of everyone who came out to be a part of this special day. From the shooters on the course to the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and families behind the scenes, each of you played a role in making this event unforgettable.

As a nonprofit youth shooting team, the Lonestar Shootout is so much more than a fundraiser. It is a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in young people. Because of your support, our athletes will have opportunities to learn, grow, compete, and chase goals that might otherwise be out of reach.
