“Some days will be better than others… that’s normal. But will you still show up and give it all you’ve got?”

What happens to a $400-$500 bat when the player swinging it is still thinking about her last strikeout?

Absolutely nothing 😭

The bat didn’t forget how to hit.
The player didn’t suddenly lose her incredible swing.

She’s just not fully in this at-bat yet.

We dedicate time to working on mechanics, and rightfully so. Parents invest in lessons, equipment, travel ball …

And yet one strikeout can keep a player from bringing any of that preparation or skill into her very next at-bat … sometimes for the rest of the game.

I’ve been asking coaches this question all week:

“What’s the biggest mental game challenge you’re seeing right now?”

The answer has been almost unanimous.

Resetting and recovering after mistakes.

Honestly, I think we’re asking players to “flush it” or “let it go” without ever really providing them with the full context of how.

That’s why I called my friend Coach Jenn.

She’s one of the best mental performance coaches I know, and I asked if she’d do a live training specifically on helping players reset after mistakes.

Thankfully, she said yes.

While we were planning the training, she shared something with me that I’d never heard before. I immediately thought, “If I had understood this concept years ago, it would’ve made me an even better coach.”

She covers it all in the training.
If you’d like to join us THIS Sunday, we’d love to have you.

Have you ever seen a player try to reset after an error … but one mistake still turns into three?

It’s not because she’s not “tough enough.”

It’s because most players only ever attempt to reset in the moments when it’s hardest … mid-game, under pressure, with everyone watching.

What most players (and honestly, most coaches) don’t realize is that there’s a training mode that helps players get BETTER at resetting and recovering … before they ever need it in a game.

And when players learn how to activate this mode on purpose, that’s when one mistake finally stays one mistake this season.

Which exactly why mental performance coach Jenn is teaching players, coaches, and parents how to do it in the Next Play Reset virtual training on Sunday, July 19.

Your player will leave knowing The Next Play Reset they can use right away AND how to train it so they keep getting better and better at it all season long.

Registration is now open.

Softball Success Tips: Opportunities Are Earned | 07/12/2026

Whenever I hear someone say, “I didn’t get a chance” or “Give me a chance,” I think to myself …

Opportunities are earned, not given.

Softball Success Tips: Opportunities Are Earned | The truth in competitive athletics is... Opportunities are earned, not given Tweet this IF you are given an opportunity from your coach, it's your first one, on day one. But even that one you earn by showing up. If you don't show up, you don't get that chance. Show up and you get one chance. One sho...

I remember going to a clinic by Cindy Bristow way back when and she mentioned how there are some things she taught before that she didn’t teach anymore. She talked about how she learned and adapted over the years as a softball coach and instructor.

So I’m curious about what you’ve learned over the years.

What’s one thing you do differently now than when you started?

Wondering how you can help your daughter build confidence?

Most coaches will tell you that confidence develops as athletes successfully accomplish goals.

Read that one more time. Confidence develops from accomplishing things, not from being told, “you can do it” or “believe in yourself.”

And yet, most athletes miss it entirely …
They accomplish things all the time and never notice because it’s not some big, fancy achievement. A small win in practice. A skill that used to be hard that isn’t anymore.

Progress gets missed even while it’s happening.

And wins you don’t notice can’t build confidence.

That’s what the Stack Your Wins Journal is for.

It helps athletes capture those wins, both big and small, so they stack up day after day and become confidence they can actually stand on.
