Panhandle Cowboys Welcome to the home of The Panhandle Cowboys. Monthly matches are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Element Training Complex in Holt, Florida

Monthly matches are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Element Training Complex in Holt, Florida. Monthly matches consist of Four or Six Stages (40 - 60 rounds-Pistol, 40 - 60 rounds-Rifle, 24-36 rounds-Shotgun). Optional side matches are sometimes scheduled following the main match and may include activities such as derringer, long range r***e, or wild bunch competitions. Everyone is invited to take a nostalgic trip back to the later half of the 1800's and experience the guns and attire of the Old West. Members are more than willing to explain the rules and procedures of the sport. It is usually possible to set up interested guests to shoot a stage or two following the main match. The club is sanctioned by the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS). SASS has over 100,000 members worldwide. This organization establishes the fi***rm, am******on and attire requirements for the various shooting categories. In general, fi***rms required are two pistols, one r***e and one sh***un, all manufactured prior to 1900. Originals and reproductions are acceptable, but very few originals are used for the competition. Detailed requirements are available in the Shooter's Handbook available on the SASS WebSite.

NO MATCH NEXT MONTH!
Since the match director and all those that set up will be at Land Run in Oklahoma we will not have a match next month.

The good news is we will return to cowboy attire for the November Match.

If you would like to still shoot next month There are Matches in Daleville on the first Saturday and Chipley on the 4th Saturday.

Great match today if you were a duck or a Panhandle Cowboy, after 2 stages the rain arrived in earnest and the cowboy action shooting was given up for some fresh grilled burgers. Thankfully we were under cover and grillmaster Col. Cletus T. Bass was prepared and served up some of the finest All American hamburgers found in the southeast. Adios till next month

The Panhandle Cowboys (SASS affiliated club) invite you to our Cowboy Action Shooting match. Featuring "Magnum P.I."
Get out your Hawaiian shirts, shorts, deck shoes and ball caps.
We will also be grilling burgers after the match in celebration of Independence day.

We will offer 3 additional categories for the Magnum PI match.
1. Mild Bunch Open
2. Mild Bunch Traditional
3. Mild Bunch Modern
All SASS rules apply for both Cowboy & Wild Bunch.
We will also have the following exceptions for Mild Bunch:
1. Am******on power factor of 150 will not be required
2. Magazines with base pads will be allowed
3. Magazines will be loaded with 5 rounds only.

Gates open at 8:00AM check in opens at 8:30AM Safety briefing will begin at 9:20 AM & first rounds will go downrange as soon as possible after the briefing. The match will be 4 stages & will use 40 pistol, 40 r***e & at least 16 sh***un rounds (7 1/2 shot or smaller, no Steel shot)
Matches are held according to Single Action Shooting Society rules.
Walk-ins are welcome. Fees: $25 per adult shooter. There is no fee for spectators. All fee's are paid at match.

We have lost a great friend and shooter. Tulsa Herder aka. Buddy Fenstermaker has gone to the big round-up in the sky.
Tulsa was always easygoing and a positive cowboy. Many are the times when we would enjoy a pleasant conversation about shooting and life. I also recall conversations about our trials and tribulations about bullet casting and loading black powder rounds.
You will be missed my friend.
