Bluestone Dam: 1.6 Gates Open ⬇️
New River: 2.19 ft ⬇️
Greenbrier River at Alderson: 3.21 ft ⬇️
Water levels are dropping all week — rivers are clearing up and fish are getting more active. Great day to get out there!
🎯 Fishing Suggestions:
New River — At 2.19 ft this is PRIME smallmouth water! Work crayfish, hellgrammites, and jigs along rocky points and gravel bars. Spinnerbaits and shiners will also produce!
Greenbrier River — Dropping and clearing at Alderson. Catfish, smallmouth, and rock bass all active. Nightcrawlers on the bottom in slow holes and eddies will get you bit. Red worms are deadly for rock bass right now!
Bluestone Lake — Dam at 1.6 gates, lake is settling nicely. Target bass and crappie along shallow structure. Goldfish and shiners perfect for a relaxing day on the water!

Water Clarity: Cloudy
Water is dropping but still cloudy — here's how to use that to your advantage!
🎯 Fishing Suggestions:
New River — Cloudy water means fish are less spooky and will hit more aggressively! Use bigger, brighter baits they can find easier — chartreuse jigs, bright spinnerbaits, and fresh nightcrawlers are your best bet. Work the shallower rocky areas.
Greenbrier River — Still dropping and cloudy. Catfish actually LOVE dirty water — their whiskers do the work! Soak nightcrawlers or cut shad on the bottom in slow holes and eddies. This could be a big catfish day!
Bluestone Lake — Cloudy water pushes bass shallower and makes them aggressive. Work bright colored spinnerbaits and swimbaits along the banks. Early morning and late afternoon will be most productive.
💡 Pro Tip: In cloudy water always use smelly baits — nightcrawlers, cut shad, and chicken liver. Fish use their nose when they can't see clearly!
